Being 'Sane'

I think being sane means you know most social standards and/or have a concept of right or wrong and/or having the ability to reason based on this knowledge.
a child meets these standards. is a child insane?

Ever yawn widely, and get your jaw dislocated: only to have to push it back into place?

Every yawn widely, only to get your Adam’s apple caught and have to contort your throat to put it back?

Ever be sitting for a prolonged period of time, only to get that pins and needles feeling in your feet, when they are asleep? Ever have to get up, and painfully walk on them in complete agony?

I'd say "I'm the deffinition of sane... Too bad the rest of the world is insane...".

statement: "I think I'm going insane."

reply: "you're not."

statement: "how do you know?"

reply: "because crazy people don't know that they are insane. They think they're getting saner."

Exactly, those that truly are mentally ill have no idea they are ill. That's why its so hard to get them to stay on their much needed medication. One of my high school friends brother always stopped his meds claiming he didn't need them. So the times he had to go to the "vacation house" that was the most emphasized of the get better steps. "You must stay on and take your meds no matter what." My:2 cents:

I don't think I'm insane... but I"m a little off the wall.

Hey, it's OK... normal people are boring anyways.

My thoughts on it is who was the first person to deem someone sane? And if he was not deemed sane, then how do we know he wasn't insane. Therefore, there is a possibility that everyone who has been deemed sane was done so by madmen

I'm not sure I agree with this quote, but I have heard:
"Insanity is trying the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result." Therefore, I suppose sanity would be trying something else if your first effort doesn't work.
