Beckham confronts fans after boos

Christino ronaldo was welcomed back with a standing ovation by Manchester united fans in 2006 and 2008 and what he did/said in both of those summers blew anything beckham did out of the water.

Although i think the fans are childish in there actions i feel that beckham is panicking about world cup 2010 and wants top level football in order to please the England manager and did make a mistake by moving to L.A to soon.He has to be a man about the situation, the kind of man that used to captain england and not the easily lured media whore that the public are making him out to be.

Can't say I blame them.

Beckham himself seems to have very little love for LA, its fans or for the promotion of football in the States. Only a few months ago he was eager to sell them all down the river for a chance to play full-time in Milan.

IMO the only reason he signed for LA is to boost his already bloated bank balance, rub shoulders with celebrities and to give his Mrs a go at a fashion career.

I have to agree with that. He's done very little for his team, the sport in America, or the city since he's been here. He did himself no favors last year negotiating the ability to play in Europe again when he basically denounced American soccer as a lost cause. If he has such a problem with it, I say step the fuck up and prove to the people you can provide exciting soccer for the $250 million you're getting.

Can't say I can blame the man for taking 250 million if someone is willing to give it. I think they tried something like this with Pele in the 70's by bringing him to the States & it failed also ,obviously.

Haven't owners learned that America doesn't care about soccer & never will:dunno:

Good for them.He signs for a shit load of money, pretends he`s going there to promote football then fucks off to Milan. The sooner him & his stupid wife fuck off the better.

I can't blame him for taking it either. The owners of the LA Galaxy are at least partly at fault for giving him the contract. But he's got to know that as a professional, he'd have to deal with this sort of issue. Exacerbating the issue is the fact that he makes $250 million. Ask Alex Rodriguez if he's ever wanted to pull this type of stunt, and I'm sure he has. People who make a pittance in comparison have shown a better ability to act as a professional.

Welcome to the USA Beckham! This would be like, and i am using another pretty boy for this anlogoy ever though I can't stand him or his team, Tom Brady saying "I am going to Canada to play football, finish the season while the NFL season is in full swing, then returning to the Patroit's for like the last half of the season. Fan's spent their money so they or their kid's could see Becks and sad to say but he let that fans down. Piss off Beck back to England!!!

I think the reason why a lot of them are mad is because some people bought season tickets so they could see him play, and then proceeded to take 1/2 of the season off and basically said "I'm tired of playing in the states, I want to go back to Europe." Soccer will never be popular in the states. Football, basketball, and baseball all have a devout following and those sports line up in such a way that you can follow your favorite team in one sport without having decide whether to watch one sport or the other.
Disagree. If hooliganism became a way of life then soccer would be the shit. But American sports fans are waaaaay too fucking tame to go for hooliganism.

Tell that to the fans of the Lakers that rioted after they won the NBA Championship. Or to the Oakland Raiders fans who attend home games.

Maybe. But those are just a few isolated incidents. Hooliganism is much more brutal in Europe. Check this video on youtube out (30 vs 30): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJPVa4a4xq4&feature=channel_page
That video right there is pretty average. If you look at the "related videos" section you can find videos of 300 vs 300 in Russia, and maybe find riots in the heart of downtown Moscow.

Seriously, these videos of hooliganism in Europe are fierce. The shit we got in America does not compare. And the police can be vicious too. I never would have expected this from Denmark but just look at how crazy the Danish 5-0 can get. Those folks don't play around.

Oh I agree that Europe is a far more extreme case, but that sort of sentiment does exist within the United States sporting culture.

The one and only.
The bottom line is that Americans will never care about soccer. No one person is going to come here and convert everyone into fans. It doesn't work that way. The only time I watch soccer at all is when the US national team is playing. I can't watch MLS, it's boring as hell. Who wants to watch a bunch of mediocre players running around on the pitch?

I've never been a fan of Beckham, and I wouldn't pay to see him play. I can see why Galaxy fans would boo him. He deserves whatever negative treatment he receives for the rest of the year. After that, let him go back to Europe permanently. Someone needs to tell him, "Fuck you and the horse you rode in on."

How is this any different?

How is this any different than when an athlete leaves one team for another in the same country? Or comes back for that matter?

This isn't really any different. You have some fans that take issue. Again, no different.

Anyone with a wife as ugly & annoying as his is deserves some sympathy but they only moved over there so she could desperately chase after some Hollywood stars begging them to be her friend. Of course he did it for the money.
