Baseball is Back! - the 2018 Season.

Harvey should've taken the minor-league assignment, plain and simple. Just look at what it did for Roy Halladay (RIP) and Cliff Lee when they were sent down to re-tool.

But I like I said, I think they'll be more than a hand full of teams willing to take a flyer on him at the basically the MLB minimum after he's officially released.

Bad day in Toronto

1) Jays closer Roberto Osuna arrested for assault

2) Canadian James Paxton of the Seattle Mariners throws a no hitter against the Jays in Toronto.

Well the trade with the Reds came through. The Mets were fortunate to get Devin Mesoraco.

As for Matt Harvey ... he's on the West Coast probably working out/rehabbing for Scott Boras' trainer at the Boras Corporate Center in Newport Beach, California. He'll be at Dodger Stadium come this weekend. Let's see how things pan out for him during the next two months in the Reds starting rotation under new Manager Jim Riggleman. Dick Williams (no relation to his namesake, Dick Williams, HOF manager) fired Bryan Price three weeks into the season during April. Riggleman is 6-12 was the new Reds skipper.

Mets lost to the Reds today 2-1.

The Phillies are good this year. Trounced my Giants thus far in the three games, 26-5 in runs scored. **

** Jeff Samardzija sucks. :D

Hopefully, we can win one game against them with Ty Blach going today. Then we go off to Pittsburgh for three games. Andrew McCutchen's homecoming. :)

Not just a Met loss, it's just another new way to lose. Read the story about this game and you will know what it's like being a Met fan. Harvey must have shot a hot creamy load watching that game.

Strange to see Matt Harvey in the Reds uniform. But there he was ...

Matt Harvey.jpg

He pitched very effectively last night. He didn't get the win but here was his line: 4 innings, one hit allowed, 2 strikeouts, no walks. The hit was a triple by Cody Bellinger. The Reds outfielders misplayed it and lost it in the lights of Dodger Stadium. Other than that, Scooter Gennett went 4 for 5 with a homerun and 3 RBIs. The Reds dominated Kenta Maeda the Dodgers once again. Leading 5-0, and winning 6-2. I actually watched it. First Dodger game I've seen in a long time. The legendary Vin Scully retired two years ago. So Joe Davis did a commendable job as the play-by-play announcer and both Orel Hershiser and Nomar Garciaparra did the analysis. Good broadcast team the LAD have there. ;)

Why did I watch it?

The Giants got trounced by the Pirates 11-2. Third game on this road trip where the Giant pitchers have given up double digit runs. And it doesn't get any better today ...

** Jeff Samardizija sucks. :D

... As Jeff Samardzija takes the mound once again. Sad day in Giant-Land. Expect the Giants to lose their sixth straight game today. A 19-15 record reduced to 19-21.

Nice 9th inning win by my Mets last night. GREAT to see Conforto come alive with that 2-run blast.

AND Mesoraco followed up with his own blast. My gut tells me a change of scenery may be just what Mesoraco needed (fingers crossed). Either way, big improvement over Nido or Lobaton, who are just flat-out painful to watch.

I know this post will just burn BJB up  :hairpull: but here it goes:

By the way, the Dodgers have their 1988 World Series Championship team in Los Angeles this weekend celebrating that team. The only player to not be appearing in the festivities will be Mike Scioscia, who is across town managing the Angels in Anaheim. The Angels are playing the Twins. So if you are a Dodger fan, get ready for a special treat; the broadcasters will have special guests in the booth during the Reds-Dodger games. Last night, Mr. Davis and Mr. Hershiser had Mickey Hatcher in for the between innings interview. Mickey's been helping both LA teams since his retirement.

Now I know how Mets fans feel. This month of June has not been very good to them. :(

Anyway the Giants just lost the first two games (and the series) in Miami to the lowly Marlins. The worst team in the National League. Don Mattingly still has Bruce Bochy's number. He did with the Dodgers and now he does it for the Marlins.

What a let down from the Nationals series when the Giants took the weekend series by beating Max Scherzer soundly in Washington, DC on Sunday.

Can you say S-W-E-E-P? Team Terrible just got swept by the Marlins in walkoff fashion. I think I'll go to sleep now.

Sorry, but it was a four game series with the Marlins. My bad. We took the last game FINALLY :) ... after Hunter Strickland blew the save opportunity in the ninth inning. AGAIN! :(

Between him and Jeff Samardzija. Ugh. :brick:

First game of the homestand against the Marlins tonight. Same result.

The Arsonist strikes again -- Hunter Strickland sucks! He gave up up 3 runs in a third of an inning. Another blown save, his fourth. And yet another loss. Marlins 5, Giants 4.

Where has Bob gone?
Probably on suicide watch :crying:
Exacerbated by the Dodgers winning their ELEVENTH straight regular season game against the Mets :suicide:
Will today bring an end to that streak?
One can only hope so, for Bob's sake, if nothing else :spump:

As scary a duo that Judge and Stanton are for the Yankees, they both combined for 0 hits and 6 strikeouts tonight.I will still take Boston or Houston over the Yankees in a series.Historically, the team that leads MLB in homers do not do well in the playoffs.

I agree 100%. The Yankees need to get at least 1 starter at the trade deadline. Is J A Happ auditioning in his start today? Red Sox also need another starter. Price's playoff record is rather disappointing. Houston has 3 good starters in Verlander, Cole & McCullers. They need another arm at the back end of the bullpen. Should be an interesting trade deadline.

Some of these umps' strike zones are a fucking joke. I won't be shedding any tears when they get replaced by an electronic strike zone.

There was a fan at tonight’s Jays/Red Sox game that caught two homerun balls in the same inning.I can’t find any video, yet.I’m sure it will be on ESPN and some of the other sport sites.

Haha ... game 1 is ours! The SFG played a good game tonight. The Giants were trailing 2-1 to the Dodgers going into the ninth inning. A classic Madison Bumgarner-Clayton Kershaw match-up. Kershaw was going to be the winning pitcher, Bumgarner the losing pitcher. But wait ... In the ninth, Scott Alexander quickly got Andrew McCutchen to groundout. Chase D'Arnaud and Buster Posey then singled. Evan Longoria then hit into a fielder's choice forcing Posey out at second but he then beat the throw over to first to avoid a game ending double play. Alexander then hit Austin Slater to load the bases. Nick Hundley singled to right centerfield driving in both D'Arnaud and Longoria for a 3-2 Giant lead. Gorkys Hernandez singled in Slater for a 4-2 lead. Max Muncy made a fielding error to close out the Giant scoring, a 5-2 lead. Ray Black was the winning pitcher. His record is 2-1 and Will Smith got his ninth save.

The LAD are falling apart without Kenley Jansen! ;) They've lost leads in the late innings in their last four games. Three losses were walk off wins by the Colorado Rockies. Plus this Giant win! :)

How in the hell does Roberts now allow Kershaw to finish that game - considering the bullpen's woes? He'd thrown like 104 pitches through 8. Getting up there but not outrageous, and he was still clearly sharp.

I'm not crying being as I bet the Giants - I thought they were a great value in that game at nearly 2 to 1 odds.

I just don't get the thinking there, at all.
