Why do the British lose their accent when they sing?

Some do, some don't.

Those who do I'd suggest they do it for commercial reasons. If a British popster, who wants to sell his/her discs in the US, would be advised (via a phalanx of highly paid 'advisers') to adopt a fake American accent.

^^^ I think many people hear American versions of songs and try to mimic them, and gradually pick up that style of speaking, that's why you get British singers with a distinct nasal drawl. I do it all the time when singing along to American bands.

Because kids should be taught at school not dumbed infront of a cinema screen, its lazy teaching!

I thought the idea of teaching was for kids to learn. Odds are they're going to be stuck in front of a computer or T.V for the rest of their life anyway, so you might as well take advantage of what they enjoy.

Anyhow, a question: has anyone here ever complained to BBC Watchdog? Or Points of View or whatever? :wave2:

Is it true that Brits drink their beer warm?

And if so why?

I don't drink beer myself, but I know you have to drink it :sing: cold as ice :sing:

Brits just want to be different than other people huh? They even drive on the wrong side of the street!

The more chilled a lager the more refreshing it is but then you miss out on the flavour. I don't really go in for all this Extra Cold stuff that has become popular over the last few years, especially Guinness Extra Cold!! Stout is supposed to be served at room temperature!
