Some people do have disproportionate rep-to-post count stats. Best to remain bipartisan which helps in that. Frankly I don't necessarily care what people think about my sometimes-conservative viewpoints, so I let the rhetoric fly.
I'm a member at at least 16 forums though, many of which are more serious than this one, it being porn based. I get a little more serious at those forums. Generally it's fun to banter here most of all.
I could not agree more with that. I post things on here just generally to have a laugh, and i am serious on the topics that i feel i need to be.
It is the internet though, so if anyone takea everything to heart, then they need to step outside and go for a walk

I have not really cared about rep for quite a while. After all some people have really high rep in comparison to the amount of posts that they have made. Also for the most part I have found that it's not indicative of quality but some other variable. In the end who really cares.

I have posted exactly one thread in the games section (maybe a moved one too) and 2 or 3 accompanying posts. As I understand it most people derive their rep from this section.
I have ID'ed babes but rarely by comparison and have received limited rep for that.
And I don't participate consistently in the congrats threads.
95 pct of my posts I suppose are socio political opinion in the talk section and the overwhelming majority of rep I have (which is substantial according to some) comes from comments on those subjects.
Yet if I went by some of the pms I get you'd think I have nothing but red chicklets over my opinions.
I suppose everyone has their opinions of what people post... :dunno: The same person who sees one thing and swears by it might read totally different to someone else. I guess some would argue respecting the opinions of others..:o

Why should any discussions be taken less seriously because it's the internet? And just because someone neg reps, it doesn't mean they're taking shit to seriously.

If I wanted rep, I'd post in the members section. That whole forum is like one giant rep circle rep jerk. All post count congratulatory threads are fucking worthless, much like MOTW, POTW, and OOTW facepalm. They are all just an excuse to hand out rep to undeserving members. There was a time when I cared about rep, but that time has come and gone. It's been cheapened now to the point where it means nothing. I honestly don't even check it anymore.
I rep good posts and I neg rep people/posts who/that annoy the fuck out of me... mostly new members, Will, and BMH.

Purely IMO, if you neg rep someone saying a comment like STFU or something simmilar then you are taking it seriously, when really you could just look at another topic

Seriously, I have 5 negs in the reps I can view and 3 of them were from him...for nothing. I don't know, he got his jollies off or something handing out as many reds as greens.
