persona non grata
I used to listen to a lot of death metal and first generation black metal 10-15 years ago. Carcass, Morbid Angel, Death, Venom, Bathory and Entombed are some of my old favourites. Of the newer bands i really only listen to Death Breath and Arch Enemy.

Yea, i love Death and Black Metal the most but like a lot of other metal and rock bands as well. But Death and Black are my favorite areas. Some bands i like:

Black:

Veneficum
Armagedda
Grand Belial's Key
Mirrorthrone
Vreid
Lightening Swords of Death
Coldworld
Crionics
Enslaved

Death:

Blood Red Throne
Vader
Horricane
Debauchery
Esqarial
Gorod
Kataklysm
Necrophagia

those are just a few.

I don't listen to so much Black Metal, but I enjoy Death, Grind, Thrash, etc.

I've been listening to these bands a lot as of late: Necrophagist, Pig Destroyer, Municipal Waste (Traditional Thrash throwback with some Hardcore thrown in), Animosity (although it's not really straight up Death Metal), Trap Them (more on the Punk/Thrash side of the spectrum)

Necrophagist

They will have new album out this year. Cant wait.

I listen to shit like Ramms+ein, Nightwish, Judas Priest, Motorhead, White Zombie, Black Label Society, and several others. I'm not sure if these would be considered black or death metal.

no dude they're not.. rammstein is industrial metal, nightwish is symphonic power metal, judas priest is heavy metal, motörhead is rock 'n roll/speed metal, white zombie is industrial/post-thrash metal and black label society is southern heavy metal..

me, i'm a huge metal fan.. death metal mostly.. i like brutal and technical stuff like psycroptic, reprobation, prostitute disfigurement, suffocation, immolation, cannibal corpse, carcass, nile, cinerary, krisiun, avulsed, deeds of flesh, insidious decrepancy, beheaded, benighted, aeon, etc.

i also like some black metal like deathspell omega, darkthrone, immortal, mayhem, marduk, satyricon, etc.

well, metal is just more than a music to me.. long live heavy metal, dudes! :p

I'm a black death metal fan, but I don't understand what my race has to do with it. :dunno:

Thanks for the clarification. I kind of knew that they weren't black/death metal, but I just wanted to make sure. Frankly, I have no idea what the determining factors are for whether something is one kind of metal or another.

We had Behemoth at Ozzfest last year. I agree with you, they're pretty damn good.

I love just about all types of metal, aside from really bad hair metal (Extreme, Mr. Big, Firehouse, etc) or shitty rap metal (Hollywood Undead, Pap Roach, etc).

Black and death metal kick ass!

My musical taste is not that limited and I'm pretty much open to anything, so I also listen to a lot of death and black metal. There are a few genres I don't like and that I hardly listen to if ever (for example German Volksmusik or dance floor/techno/schrantz/...).

I have to say though, that it has always been more death metal than black metal.

They may not be black or death metal, but at the moment I am definitely looking forward to the new Brutal Truth album. :D
