Anthony Bourdain Commits Suicide

There is no way to wake up to bad news, especially when it's about someone you know and admire. I woke this morning to read that someone I had spent some time with and admired tremendously has committed suicide. I spent 4 days in Newfoundland last October with Tony and Asia while filming the episode of Parts Unknown with my friends David and Fred from Joe Beef in Montreal. He was such a smart man and very funny and unpretentious about his mistakes in life. He was humble and had no problem saying that he was never a good chef. Tony was always very kind to me and not once did he treat me as someone that had done porn or that was beneath him at any level. He asked a lot of questions about my previous career and we laughed a lot. His girlfriend Asia Argento was directing his show and appeared in a few episodes and they seemed so happy. She is an amazing woman and my heart breaks for her. She had found who she thought was her soulmate. He loved his daughter and had made his entire goal in life to raise her with an appreciation of people and respecting cultures not her own. He was big into jiu jitsu and his health so this was something out of nowhere.

The US is seeing a suicide epidemic. Why? I don't think anyone who knew Tony saw this coming. I met him the first time in 2014 and when I saw him last October he seemed so happy and much more settled in his life. His divorce from Ottavia was hard on him because of his daughter. But he seemed in a good place and that's what makes this so sad and confusing.

When I started doing youtube videos about food & cooking I was already a fan of Bourdain. He was a masterful story teller & made food important & tied it into friendships & family & life. His voice will be missed. Absolutely heartbreaking.

Good riddance, never did like him as I don't like narcissist. If it wasn't suicide that killed him it woulda been from liver failure. He was a really bad alcoholic and admittedly so.

Funerals aren’t funny. The porn actress said she is a friends with the man and she calls him Tony. Only his best friends call him Tony. Yes? I make good sense, yes I know it to be truth. If she is amigos she can fly her movie making aircraft. They will agree to do it.

He was also a heavy drug addict of heroin, cocaine and alcohol. The fact the story I read states allegedly... is making me wonder if he relapsed or just snapped. I liked him in his very beginning days of traveling back in I think 2003. It was after he turned his shows into whiny little traveling political soapbox operas I became turned off.

Nobody is trolling. RJ merely put his say in on what he feels about this topic (as everybody in this site does, like it or not) and added his two cents. I provided a link to your basically FreeOnes obituary post; and replied to somebody that wants you to fly a drone around (I find that to be hilarious) as a means to not belittle that funeral. Just because somebody dies doesn't mean we focus on the sunshine and lollipops of their life. Especially in this case a known drug/substance addict and no details of this "apparent" suicide. It clearly states found him "unresponsive" by his friend. That can mean a myriad of things. Now if wish to be publicly known of his death is on those that are close and related to him.

And suicide is quite a broad meaning word. So do not swing at a public forum for saying their statements about the subject.

This post you did in #9 concrete RJ post further more of his. But we only have to go to your foodie thread to see that. Of which we stay out of. And for some that do post either came across your vapid rebuttals or on the good side if you agree...

In meantime a life was lost. How time will tell. Because celebrity lifestyle always have a way of coming out.

Your video said you use drone for aerial photography as in the technology of GoPro Karma. You don’t shoot GoPro Karma for the cats . That would be silly yes? I only visited lazio travel site because of your video productions promoting the city. Then I seen the same video of same as yours and I was confusing because you said you create video. Yes he is. And Bourdain is the same one in a intro of one of his shows where he talked shit about the military and when he was on a tour with them he retracted. Even his Russian buddy host got tired of his antics in a show when he kept talking shit about Putin in Russia.

I’ve always wondered why people would want food critiques, recipes, or their restaurants promoted by a porn star. I mean come on. There was a strip joint that I used to go to that served food. I couldnt eat a bite of anything they served there because of the environment.
If someone claiming to be a former porn star wanted to promote my restaurant, I’d say thanks but no thanks.
I am not saying that with any particular animosity,I seriously don’t see a porn star as a marketing tool in a mainstream business.
