Americans should not be allowed to own guns.

And which state in America do you hail from my friend?

I am from the North American Union.

I strongly advocate a strong North American Union between United States and Canada. An Union stronger than E.U. with one single currency and free movement of people and a strong economic development with natural resources.

Each state or province can still maintain their identity but without a strong NAU : North American Union, we just can not fight against the Japs, the German and the Chinese.

Dude... What?

A North American Union would have a land mass bigger than Russia, with 335 million people, extend all the way from the Gulf Coast to the North Pole, with unlimited resources, oil, water from the last ice age and great land across the Mid-west.

It is the most powerful empire in the world !

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
Why are Americans so scared that they feel that they need a gun to protect themselves ?

Because the world is a scary place...

Why I Carry a Gun

My old grandpa said to me, "Son, there comes a time in
every man's life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts
bustin' caps and usually it's when he becomes too old to take an ass
whoopin'."

I don't carry a gun to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being
killed.

I don't carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes
this world can be a scary place.

I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid. I carry a gun because there
are real threats in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I'm evil. I carry a gun because I have lived
long enough to see the evil in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun
because I understand the limitations of government.

I don't carry a gun because I'm angry. I carry a gun so that I don't have
to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.

I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone. I carry a gun
because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a
sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy. I carry a gun because, when
I die and go to Heaven, I want to be a cowboy.

I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man. I carry a gun because
men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.

I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun because
unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate.

I don't carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun because I love life
and the people who make it meaningful to me.

"Police Protection" is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect
themselves. Police do not protect you from crime; they usually just
investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to
clean up the mess.

Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die
and too old to take an ass whoopin'.

OK, so I suppose an unsourced Wiki page of a word with no definition (which for all I know, you entered that yourself) overrides Merriam-Webster's page? I can link you to a picture of a jackalope too. I guess you were right, provided that Wiki is infallible.

Although Wiki is by no means infallible

Shit! there goes that argument! I am, however, very proud of you for doing some research, and will award you with either "good effort" or "way to be". Your choice.

The Second Amendment reads ;
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed....

In other words the Amendment was specifically to support the new government and not to be a way of removing it or opposing it.

By that logic, under the first amendment, freedom of the press would only apply to State-run newspapers and freedom of religion would only be held in state-sanctioned churches. The Bill of Rights is to protect citizens' rights from infringement by government, not to establish governmental rights.

Er no, because the sole purpose of a car is not to injure/kill someone/thing. That is a gun's raison d'etre.

I sure hope so, that's why I have firearms. I can also use a car to go buy more ammo. I bet you wished you lived in America now!

Crazy people are gonna do crazy things no matter what you do.
Crazy people will get a gun , Most crazy people who do crazy things with guns get them illegally anyway.
So if you think that passing more crazy laws will stop crazy people from doing crazy things , well thats just fucking crazy.

you know what how bout this to the anti gunner post starter.

i wont tell you what to do, DONT tell me what to do. that includes what im allowed to have.

sound good? now shut up and leave my guns alone.

Can someone please explain to me why Americans feel it is a God-given right for them to own a lethal weapon? Because it makes no sense to me. Permitting any old Tom, Dick and Harry to own a device that could easily inflict deadly bodily harm on another person is not logical. And don't compare gun ownership to knife ownership. Guns are a lot more dangerous. Plus they are designed specifically to serve as weapons.

He just asked a question then given his opinion.

And you skipped the interresting part which is about why you consider it a God-given right... by telling him to shut up and showing you could be considered someone which seems to think it's a God-given right that we shouldn't even be able to discuss about. Hence, able to provide explanations regarding something he (and many others) have a hard time to understand.

One of the most difficult aspect to understand for foreigners regarding the american culture (as it is totally alien to our foreign mentalities) is that attitude towards firearms.

Telling someone to shut up wont help to understand how significant that right is for the majority of american citizens...

I'm making generalisations here but i'm pretty sure you can understand my point.

:2 cents:

You keep saying it's fear.... feel threatened... fraidycat... I've never felt that way...

Why does it have to be fear? That's my point. Maybe it adds to the comfort, but that doesn't mean a gun owner would be afraid without his gun. With a gun, he or she might feel more secure.

Okay. So, here's an example. Nothing documented, just pulled right out of thin air: A woman is leaving work late, walking through a dark parking lot to her car. A man in the shadows says "hey baby whats the rush?". The woman quickens her steps. Behind her, she can hear him following. When she gets to her car, she turns around. He's moving toward her with a knife in his hands. He says "don't scream and I won't cut you too bad."

So, right now she looks like a victom. And I'm sure you'll agree, it's never good to be a victom.

Except that's when she pulls a gun from her purse and levels it at her assailants head. Here's the magic. Now she isn't a victim anymore. Most likely, big guys going to run away. She won't fire a shot.

You say fear. I say... in some cases, justified and logical.

If you're going to support your argument using fictional scenarios, here's a couple of equally outlandish ones to support the alternative position.

  1. A black guy (it's always a black guy) needs some change for the phone, it's late and it's dark. He approaches a business lady who is making her way towards her car. "Hey !" he says "got some change". The woman, alone and confronted by a black man takes the gun out of her purse and shoots him.
  2. A burglar breaks into a house. The homeowner attempts to protect himself using the gun he keeps in the bedside table. Because he's rather sleepy, he misses. The burglar takes out his gun and shoots the guy stone dead

Less fear/more secure; tomayto/tomato. Why do people in the United States need a gun to feel more secure ?

Marlo Manson

Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
I am just jumping back in sort of speak cuz I haven't been getting my subscribed thread email updates so I don't know who's posted what, all I know is that Americans have the right to purchase guns.

I don't know the figures cuz I don't research before I post, I just guesstimate, but Guns used to murder people, used in the commission of a crime, used in the frequent shooting spree's, are just about all instances of crime committed with a ILLEGAL GUN. that means the guns are bought in the streets unlawfully, and or are stolen from registered gun owners, and they are unregistered or stolen for a reason, so the offender is harder to catch, when they commit a crime.

Therefore the law abiding citizens that own guns are I'd say 95% prolly higher of NOT having used there guns in a crime, illegally, or in a careless manner.

I say too those who argue guns are the tool of violence and death, there is no need for citizens too own guns.

well I ask do you all who bash gun owners and cry about the AMERICAN gun culture and our laws?

do you have KNIVES/SWORDS/MACHETE'S, A BOW & ARROWS, CHAINSAWS, DYNAMITE, ANY KIND OF EXPLOSIVES, ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES THAT CAN BE USED AS A WEAPON, ANYTHING CAN BE USED AS A TOOL OF VIOLENCE, ie.A CAR, A PENCIL, A TOOTHBRUSH, the list goes on well do you?

GUNS are gonna be had by the CRIMINALS regardless, there are billions of guns world wide, the USA will never be gun free NO matter how harsh and severe the penalty or the laws are to eliminate guns.

THERES way too many guns in the streets, its trying to drink all the water in the world ITS NEVER GONNA HAPPEN, so all of you who bash the USA for having guns available to citizens, its NO use its done and over with, NO matter what you say, or what reasons you throw @ us AMERICANS it doesn't mean shit, it won't do shit, it won't change shit, so why talk :bs: when it is the way it is, and nothing you say or do is gonna change the way it is? :dunno::2 cents::hatsoff:

Not at all.The Second Amemndment is clearly there to establish a militia.A well regulated one at that. The follow up to the Amendment was the Militia Act which clearly places the militia under the president's control.
In other words the Second Amendment was framed to prevent threat to the nation or its government. Not to protect citizens from one of these mythical "tyrannical" governments. That's the job of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution.

Absolutely, perhaps you didn't pick up on the tone of the post. It we're going for redneck stereotypes then all black people are criminals, the world is a scary place where you have to defend yourself with guns.
