Americans should not be allowed to own guns.

Can someone please explain to me why Americans feel it is a God-given right for them to own a lethal weapon? Because it makes no sense to me. Permitting any old Tom, Dick and Harry to own a device that could easily inflict deadly bodily harm on another person is not logical. And don't compare gun ownership to knife ownership. Guns are a lot more dangerous. Plus they are designed specifically to serve as weapons.

several reasons:

A. Because they enjoy sport shooting

B. Because they are paranoid that their neighbors are out to get them

C. Because they are paranoid that the government is out to get them

D. Because they have seen too many gangsta rap videos

E. Because they believe that they should follow the Constitution, even if it doesn't make any sense

F. Because they are a drug dealer (see B,C, and D)

G. Because they want to kill somebody (See F )

H. Because they feel they have the right to do whatever they want to and they don't want anyone telling them they can't (See all of the above)

I. Because they don't care one way or the other and they just go with the flow

A gun is nothing more than a tool. Do some nut jobs go off with them? Yes they do. Most responsible gun owners, like myself respect the weapon. I could "go off" with a chain saw or a salad fork for that matter and kill someone. When I fire a gun I am responsible for the flight of the bullet or slug. When I use a table saw I take precautions to keep safe. The principle is the same.

I have no problem with people who do not own guns. I have no problem with people who are for SOME regulations for gun purchases. I choose to own and use guns. I hunt with them, I target practice with them and if the situation arises that I need to, yes I will protect myself with them.

As far as not comparing them to knives, I don't. I use the knife to clean and butcher the animal AFTER I shoot it.

The funny thing is that Canada also has a long tradition of hunting and owning guns with iirc 6-7 million guns in circulation yet the crime rate in Canada is only a fraction of that in the US. That should tell everyone something about American society.

Also I'm pretty sure that knives were invented to be used as weapons. what do you think cave men were cutting? They weren't making scrapbooks. So that is a bit of nonsense.

What about guns that shoot knifes?

What are you going to do? Release the dogs? Or the bees? Or the dogs that have bees in their mouths and when they bark they shoot bees at you?

All the Europeans and other countries who citizens are unable to purchase guns always complain and bitch about us Americans having guns, cuz I think you are envious and jealous? :dunno: of us American who are allowed to purchase our guns.

You should petition your governments for your right to purchase guns, I know good and damn well that half the opposition who argue about the Americans right to arm themselves and the capability of purchasing guns legally, would practically give one of their NUTS for the opportunity and or freedom to purchase a firearm legally, its a guys thing, some women like them also I am sure, but its like Cars, most guys are into cars, I think thats the case with guns as well, guys love guns. not just in the USA, I think all guys love guns. :2 cents:

Criminals are the ones killing, they are gonna get their hands on guns regardless if it is legal or not to own a gun in the USA. thats why they don't register them, they steal them from legitimate owners, Criminals always will be able to arm themselves with weapons. period, its just the way it is, their are millions upon millions of guns in circulation world wide, Criminals will always be armed, if legal citizens and law abiding citizens feel the need to protect themselves thats their right.

Perhaps if the law to owning guns was never bestowed and guns owned by citizens was banned, controlled, and or a lot stricter then it has been in the last century and half, it might have been a convenient, legitimate, way to curb the circulation of guns in the USA, but since the constitution was written, its been the Americans freedom and right to purchase and bear arms RESPONSIBLY and for the most part 99% of law abiding registered firearms are handled legally and with care and responsibly like they pledged they would.

If all the countries who wish to own firearms but are unable to, petition your government, start a petition amongst PRO-GUN supporters and try and change your laws? :dunno:

p.s. @ galactic. Do I get reps. for the jules quote?:D:rofl2:

From my own perspective... Someone broke into my house a couple years ago. I was in bed and heard the noise. I had a few minutes before the guy made his way into my bedroom and beat the shit out of me. If I had the gun I now own, it would have gone down a little different.
And on the other end of it, the police station was five minutes away. It took them over half an hour to arrive.

America has more guns in circulation amongst it's citizens than any other country on earth and it also has the highest murder rate on earth, if you don't see any connection between the two you're blind.

Unfortunately, it's too late to ban guns in the US. American society has and always will be based on fear. Guns are not only a way for people to feel safe but also a way to keep the fear alive.

Statistically that may all be true, I haven't done the research to verify that statement, but I'd say ANYWHERE IN THE USA its still not the most dangerous place on earth is it? I'd say anywhere in the Middle East and parts of South America are way more dangerous than being ANYWHERE in the USA?:hatsoff:

But what percentage of gun crimes are committed with LEGALLY purchased firearms and by the LEGAL owner?

In all seriousness (seriousity?), the founding fathers included the 2nd amendment in the Bill of Rights to ensure that the government wouldn't get so big that it would threaten individual rights. It kept the legislators fearful of a violent insurrection.

IMO more law abiding Americans should not only own pistols but should also apply for concealed weapons permits. In states where concealed carry laws have been enacted random violent crimes have been decreased dramatically.

If you apply for a concealed weapon in Nevada, for instance, you can carry concealed weapons in four other states. If you're granted a concealed weapon in Nevada you can apply for a permit in Utah and Florida and you would be allowed to carry concealed in 39 total states.

If you outlaw handguns, only outlaws will own handguns.

People who say Guns increase crime are so wrong , imagine this : if everyone would own a gun many crimes would be solved , take the controversial school shootings for example : is some of those students had a gun or any of the teachers had a gun maybe nobody had to die or not that many people they could've solved the crime on their own , now they had to wait for "the police" or whoever ended that madness....

If every store owner would own a gun (the majority of them already owns a gun by the way) there wouldn't be robbed that easily and robbers would just decide to drop the idea of robbing a store due to the risques of getting a gun pointed back at you , I know if they come in the store with their gun cocked and aimed it's hard for the store owner to retaliate but I've seen many cases where they were very thankfull for having a gun....

I think guns should be legal for anyone who's older than 18....
