Idiotic statement. No one (with any degree of rationality) would want the president of the United States to be assassinated. However, apparently you think it's no big deal that someone on the right would feel that way.

Without knowing this man's motivation behind such a comment to his students, the court of public opinion now has this guy in it's sights....this is not a good thing for him in today's society. While using this example was probably irresponsible of him in retrospect. I think it is a shame that someone who has chosen to be a teacher, IMO one of the most over-worked, underpaid, and taken for granted professions in the United States could possibly lose his job over a comment such as this.

BTW Ulysses31, the article you referenced doesn't say anything about the teachers race...so not sure if that plays into why he said what he said. I have lived and worked in Alabama before though, and it has it's share of racists on both sides of the fence like anywhere else...so who knows?? :dunno:

Not quite... and this was a very poor example by this guy as it is ok to question the President about anything (for now), but if the SS determines it was a genuine "threat", he's in serious trouble.

It is funny though that people called for Bush's death all the time at every rally held against him, and the press along with most people in the US never batted an eye. Bottom line, it's WRONG on both accounts, as well as illegal.:2 cents:
