A Note to the Boston Red Sox

I think this is hilarious how people around here hate the Red Sox so much. I was excited about the Rays success this season, but in the last couple weeks I have heard so much bandwagon, out of the woodwork Rays crap, it really puts me off. Meanwhile nobody roots for the Red Sox except those for whom it is their favorite team.

The Red Sox have been my third favorite team ever since I realized the Yankees fans hated them so much. I was maybe 14 or 15 at the time. As a Mets fan since about age 10, it was natural to embrace the Yankees bitter rival. (No true fans in the NY area like both the Mets and Yanks.) Regardless of what you say about the Red Sox (Yankees-like) spending policies of recent years, this is always a team that is well-coached and never says die. They have demonstrated it in the past and they are in the process of an improbable demonstration of it once again.

Down 3-1 in the series.....Down 7-0 in the game.....7 outs left.....

Hell anyone (besides a true Rays fan) who really loves baseball should be thanking the Red Sox for making this as exciting as this Game 7 is going to be.

And besides no team with Cornelius Clifford Floyd on it should ever win a World Series.

Whomever wins, at least this was a good series and one to be remembered. For my money, these were the two best teams in all of MLB this year.

Good post. But I just have to say one thing, other than I am absolutely sure now that the Boston Red Sox made a pact with the Devil himself, and that is this that follows........

UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE! GOD DAMN IT! ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY RIDICULOUS!

I don't want to have to eat my words, but it appears that for TWO years in a row I will have to.

Come on guys, they didnt lose game 2, 3, 4, and 7. The umps clearly screwed them out of those games, just ask theyre fans. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

BOSTON LOSES! :jump:

Good Post.

I was happy the rays were doing so well. And was pretty amazed at how young they are. I mean Shields their oldest starting pitcher is only 26.

I am a Dodgers fan and up until the Dodgers got knocked out I didnt care who went to the series as long as the Dodgers went.

When they lost, I began cheering for the Rays. I was just getting a little bored with Boston, especially since they traded Manny away (to my Dodgers! :D)

Either way I would have wound up routing for the AL team because I hate the phillies so much.

I give them credit. I thought they were done when they traded Manny. Than I thought for sure they were done when they faced the Angels, even with their history of success against them. Than comes this series down 3-1, no way did I think there would be a game 7.

They didn't win game 7, but to be that close I give them all the credit in the world as a sports fan. Very happy Tampa won, another expansion team that gets there before my lowly M's.

True, but imagine Manny being up in the eighth tonight. Not only would have it been hard as hell to pitch to Big Papi (he grounded to Iwamura) you have manny up, Arguably the best clutch hitter of all time.

why hath Satan forsaken the red sox?

Im glad Boston lost, but now I dont know who to root for? Both these teams are underdogs.

Yeah, I'm kinda torn on this one too. I'm originally from the Philly area, but I'd love to see the Rays win the whole thing......I'm a sucker for the Cindarella story, you know, being a Rockies fan and all.........:(

WTF happened last year with them? A few weeks ago I was thinking back as to who won it last year and I immediately said "oh ya Colorado". Then I had to correct myself and remember that Boston won instead.

I still don't know. I went to the playoff game against SD, and the magic was intense. And then we swept our way to the WS.

I think in the end, lack of playoff experience, nerves, and a dominating team from the AL, along with the fact that we had EIGHT days off before the start of the WS, well, the magic train fell off the tracks.

That, and the fact that the fuckin' Sox figured out early that if they threw high fastballs, the Rocks would swing and miss EVERY TIME!
