Of course, if and when I attend any such racing events, I'm sure to show my support for my favorite vehicle, despite my client's sponsorship.
Nothing to do with rooting for the "home team," but I still go for what Bowling Green, Kentucky has to offer first and foremost ...

Oh hell I love the Corvette and many other american cars and of course cars from other nations, but no car is better than a German Mercedes-Benz or Porsche!
And the example Covette. Of course its a great car and not so expensive like other cars in that class, but it has just "muscles" and nothing more!
My car has "muscles" and a great luxury interior! And German cars are way more solid than other cars.
Real and natural women!

While I don't disagree with the statement that MB can assemble the best engineered cars in the world, I still firmly believe that at their prices of the cars that you are talking about, they had better be. In the average car market, I mean non-luxury, the Japanese handled the rest of the automotive world it's asses 2 decades ago, and continue to do so.
At the same time, the quality and engineering differences between all of the major players, in all price categories has shrunk almost to the point of not being an issue. (This has happened, primarily from the rise of OEM parts manufactures playing almost the largest role in vehicle performance.)
I (think) I remained astonishingly unbiased there.^

Its not about engineering when it comes to a flash car ..or price... it comes down to style, nothing else sounds as good as taking your wife or girlfriend to a restaurant dressed in your Dinner Jacket (tux for the US), turning to you beautiful Girl and saying...."Shall we take the Aston my love?"
