The Chicago White Sox will honor former firstbaseman Paul Konerko on Saturday, May 23, by retiring his No. 14.
The ceremony will take place before the White Sox's afternoon game against the Minnesota Twins.

Other past White Sox greats who wore the number 14 were, Larry Doby (Hall of Fame), Bill Skowron,
Ken Boyer, Bill Melton and Luke Sewell.

Should be a great tribute to Pauly.

Last person from the 05 WS team that went 11-1 in the playoffs. Don Cooper the pitching coach (2002- present) is the last coach left from 05. Cooper was retain after Ozzie was told to take his media comedy act to Miami.

Projected White Sox line up:.

CF Adam Eaton
LF Melky Cabrera
1B-DH Jose Abreu
DH-1B Adam LaRoche
RF Avisail Garcia
SS Alexei Ramirez
3B Conor Gillaspie
C Tyler Flowers
2B Emilio Bonifacio

Starting pitching
#1 Chris Sale
#2 Jeff Samardzija
#3 Jose Quintana
#4 Hector Noesi
#5 John Danks

Set Up: Zach Duke
Closer: David Robertson

Duke and Robertson makes the problem bull pen that blew twenty plus games in 2014 with 2-3 run leads late after the 7th better. Chris Sale had six of them blown finishing second in WHIP behind Clayton Kershaw. if the Sox won half of them the Royals wouldn't never made the playoffs. Robertson is going replace the closer by committee.

Strong chance you will see the Sox in the playoffs.

the A's flipped Escobar to the Nationals for RP Tyler Clippard. i love how Billy Beane totally remakes a team and the A's still have surplus in a couple area's to make a further move or two

The next month will be interesting in regards to Max Scherzer watch. I'm suprised Scott Boras hasn't been out selling him harder in public.

i think Scherzer's price needs to come down, once it does he will sign quickly.
he shouldn't have turned down 7 yrs $144 million after all

While we all know that preseason fitness camps are voluntary, it's always a good idea to show up. HOWEVER, the Mets have moved this camp to their spring training facility in Port St. Lucie and are charging players from 1 to 4k for this "voluntary" camp. Nice show of class.

Orioles owner denies report that Jays near trade for GM Dan Duquette

http://www.si.com/mlb/2015/01/14/toronto-blue-jays-dan-duquette-trade-baltimore-orioles

I don't get ownership's infatuation with Duquette as President & CEO. He's a good GM, he's never run the business side of a team though. Toronto is a unique team in MLB. There are some unique things ( CDN $, perceived tax situation, Customs) Beeston is revered here. He was 1 of the first people hired when Toronto got the franchise in '76. He worked his way up from accountant to Pres & CEO. He ran the business side during the Jays hey day. He left briefly & went to work for MLB & was considered a good candidate for Commissioner when Selig was appointed. He should be treated better than the way ownership is treating him now.

so the Nationals and Max Schezer should have a deal shorty 7 years and at least 180 million. Surprised by the team and the dollars

Way to much in money and years for guy who just turned thirty. Scott Boras for you and his outrageous contract demands.

When asked, Detroit Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski refused to rule out a Scherzer return to Detroit. In recent years when Detroit planed to part ways with one of their top free-agents there was talk about moving on. There’s been no such statement regarding Scherzer. Beside the Nationals there is a another team negotiating for the rights to Max. And nobody is saying who that team might be.

Scherzer pitched five years for the Tigers. His Detroit record is 82-35, with a 3.52 ERA winning the Cy Young award in 2013 followed up by an 18-5 season last year. Will that be his final Detroit season? Scherzer isn’t saying and neither are the Tigers.

It's insane what contracts are given to pitchers. These guys are all 1 elbow or rotator cuff away from disaster.

It's offical, Max is a Washington National. The Washington Nationals have reportedly completed a seven-year contract for free-agent pitcher Max Scherzer. Terms of Scherzer's deal weren't available, according to the Washington Post, but the newspaper reports it's almost sure to be worth more than the $160 million he turned down from the Detroit Tigers.

With the addition of Scherzer, assuming the Nationals don't deal away any of their top-line projected starters for 2015, Washington will field a rotation that will include Stephen Strasburg, Jordan Zimmermann, Gio Gonzalez, Max Scherzer and Doug Fister. The Nationals had the best ERA in baseball among starting staffs last year at 3.04. They are also coming off a season in which they won 96 games and finished first in the NL East.

As for the Tigers this marks the end of their four-year run as AL Central Division champs.

I agree. In 7 major league seasons as a starting pitcher Max Scherzer has only 1 complete game and 1 shutout in 198 games started, 1,239 1/3 innings. This is an awful lot of money fore somebody who averaged just 6 1/3 innings per start. What would the likes of Sandy Koufax, Bob Gibson, Mickey Lolich, Don Drysdale, Jim Palmer, Warren Spahn and Denny Mclain make if they were pitching today? Those pitchers could finish what they started!

Different era. Managers have to use the bullpens now. Heck, look how the role of reliever has changed. Sutter, Gossage, and the like would come in for two innings or more.

Nats deal with the devil will fail.

Adam Dunn type of shit contract.

SCOTT BORAS selling teams dreams at inflated prices.

Agents can only get what an owner is willing to pay. Can't blame Boras for asking, but the answer can be "no."

nobody really cares about complete games anymore, what managers want is 6 to 7 innings from their starters and then hand it over to their bullpen.
it worked real well for Kansas City last year
