Korean shortstop Jung-Ho Kang will be posted by the Korean Baseball Organization on Monday, according to FoxSports.com, and should draw plenty of interest.

Kang, 27, is a power-hitting shortstop who has spent the last seven seasons playing for the Nexen Heroes. He's coming off a career year in which he hit .354 with 39 home runs, 115 RBIs and a 1.189 OPS in 116 games.

While those numbers are eye-popping, Korea professional baseball is an extremely offensive environment; teams averaged 5.7 runs per game last season, compared to Major League Baseball's 4.1 mark.

Kang is a career .298/.382/.502 hitter with four seasons of 20-plus homers. He also stole a career-high 21 bases in 2012, but that number dipped to three last season.

well most scouts do not think he will come close to any of those numbers here, and they are not sure he can stay at short either

The White Sox sign OF Melkey Caberara to a 3 year deal

Great signing. Avisail Garcia, Adam Eaton, and him will make a great OF. Tank (Dyan Viciedo) will platoon off the bench in the OF and DH with LaRoche.

Also Hahn made a great move grabbig for the BP Zach Duke and David Robertson who will close. Another mid range SP is all they need otherwise this should be the projected pitching rotation:

#1 Chris Sale
#2 Jeff Samardzija
#3 Jose Quintana
#4 John Danks
#5 Hector Noesi (Carlos Rodon by July).

When I hear about Jung-Ho Kang all I can think about is Kaz Matsui.

the Dodgers sign SP Brett Anderson to a 1 year deal for $1o million base, given his injury history good luck
the Royals sign OF Alex Rios to a 1 year $11 million dollar deal

The Cubs keep on adding to their pitching staff by signing ex-Cardinal closer Jason Motte to a $4.5 million contract. It's a high-risk, high-reward situation with Motte coming off Tommy John surgery last year. He never regained his velocity after his rehab and Trevor Rosenthal firmly established himself as the Redbirds' 9th inning man so Motte became expendable. I wish Motte the best....he's a really great guy and will make a terrific teammate. If he can somehow regain his fastball, he's a real bargain. If not, he's a glorified batting-practice pitcher. Good luck, Jason.

San Diego signs Brandon Morrow. This could be a real bargain for the Padres. Morrow has great stuff-mid to high 90's fastball & great breaking ball. His problem has been injuries. No arm problems. I hope he stays healthy.

Chase Headley 4 years $52 mil makes A-Rod is a full time DH. Yank GM Brian Cashman publicly slammed the door on A-Rod playing 3rd except for possible days off for Headley.

Mets will put in a bid for SS Jung-Ho Kang but nothing aggressive.

well the yankees traded one of the guys keeping a-rod on the bench sending Martin Prado and David Phelps oh and 6 million dollars to the Marlins for Garrett Jones,Nathan Evoldi and a prospect pitcher

Though the Yankees have been perceived as a front-runner for Max Scherzer, who is seeking a $200 million contract, general manager Brian Cashman and team president Randy Levine have both publicly stated in recent days that the club does not intend to sign the 2013 AL Cy Young winner.

as far as i can tell none of the teams with the financial means seem interested in Scherzer at all. so far the Yankees, Red Sox, Tigers and Rangers have all said no. i think if he comes down to a little more than what Lester got he would be signed. what i really hope is no one signs him at all during the year leaving huge egg on his agents face the infamous Scott Boras.

I know Boras likes to wait with his clients. Not a peep about Scherzer or Shields. I wouldn't count the Yankees out though-maybe San Fran. :dunno: This has been a great year for trades. The Dodgers & Padres have basically re-made their rosters.

the Giants re-signed Peavey and have said the Scherzer is not an option at all. they actually prefer to sign a guy on the cheap an reclaim his career, just like they did with Ryan Vogelsong

Yeehaw!!! The Orioles have retained Delmon "The Stud, My Testicles Are Large And Swing Freely" Young for another year. NOW it's a Merry frikkin' X-mas.

Others don't like him and wanted to see him dropped. I don't get it and I was bracing myself for bad news. His bat alone is worth a spot on the roster.

PS - every time he came up to bat, I'd try to think up another nickname for him. I decided to go with it in this post.

Hell, I may cut completely loose and have a beer tonight.

The A's and Rays make a trade the A's get INF/OF Ben Zobrist and SS Yunel Escobar the Rays Get C/DH John Jaso and 2 minor leaguers a SS and a OF

Orioles owner denies report that Jays near trade for GM Dan Duquette

http://www.si.com/mlb/2015/01/14/toronto-blue-jays-dan-duquette-trade-baltimore-orioles

Baltimore Orioles owner Peter Angelos denied a report that the Toronto Blue Jays are nearing a trade for Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette.

Tony Paul of The Detroit News reported the trade Wednesday, after Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reported that the two teams have discussed a compensation package that would send Duquette to Toronto and allow him to become the Blue Jays' CEO.

Angelos told the Baltimore Sun that the Jays have expressed interest in Duquette, but that the Orioles are "not negotiating with them in any way."

"That is not going to happen. There have not been any changes in the status of Dan Duquette. He is our GM and he is going to remain our GM,” Angelos said. "He is concentrating on his efforts to determine the composition of our team for 2015. That is the answer. Period."

Rosenthal reported that the ongoing rumors of Duquette's possible interest in the Blue Jays have created an "uncomfortable situation" in Toronto.

Duquette is under contract with the Orioles through 2018. He has been linked to Toronto since December, when it was reported that the Blue Jays were interested in replacing president/CEO Paul Beeston, the first employee hired by the franchise in 1976.

On Dec. 7, Rosenthal reported that Duquette wanted to leave Baltimore for the Toronto job, and that while some members of the club would not be opposed to his departure, owner Pete Angelos was standing in his way.

Duquette was hired by the Orioles in 2011, and previously held similar positions with the Montreal Expos and Boston Red Sox. He first signed a three-year contract before signing an extension through 2018 in January 2013.

After going 69-93 in 2011, the Orioles began their marked improvement by posting a 93-69 record in 2012 and reaching the postseason for the first time since 1997. Baltimore also made the playoffs in 2014 after winning the AL East for the first time since 1997 and going 96-66.

The Blue Jays went 83-79 in 2014, finishing third in the AL East and with their best record since 2007.

The Chicago White Sox will honor former firstbaseman Paul Konerko on Saturday, May 23, by retiring his No. 14.
The ceremony will take place before the White Sox's afternoon game against the Minnesota Twins.

Other past White Sox greats who wore the number 14 were, Larry Doby (Hall of Fame), Bill Skowron,
Ken Boyer, Bill Melton and Luke Sewell.

Can't believe the Rays traded Zobrist. Not many reasons to watch them any more. the new manager said they were not doing a wholesale, but it sure seems like it. Longoria is probably looking tostart renting a place somewhere else beginning in August.
