after watching Baylor play another cream puff last night i ask you....is THAT what you want to see in a playoff game??
I don't think K State qualifies as a cream puff (although they did get demolished by TCU - the only game TCU has impressed me in all year)...but still I get your point, and the answer is NO!
I think the whole point of the 4 team playoff is to
create controversy. By doing that, it sparks interest, radio chatter, ratings, more money...
Last year, before the bowl season, the issue was Ohio State and whether they deserved to be in the playoffs, over TCU and/or Baylor.
This year, things are even stranger. Utah had a good run until USC. BYU won 2 straight on final miracles, and almost won the 3rd in the same way. Memphis is undefeated. Harbaugh turned Michigan around a lot quicker than anyone thought and shouldn't have lost to M-State. Miami lost to Duke, but was awarded a win after 4 non-calls on the final play. The conference admitted that, but stated they can't change the outcome. Really? They could change the rules. That would make things right, but they don't. Why is that? Because, it eliminates controversy. If the NCAA and/or the conferences really wanted to eliminate all this bullshit, they would make it to where the outcome of a game could be changed afterward, and, they'd go to an 8 team playoff.
This 4 team playoff has been godsend in their eyes and they're laughing all the way to the bank.
