I agree that's a lot of point smoker but watching most of these teams beat up on glorified community college squads is not a good measuring stick at all at this stage. Some of these non-conference schedules are simply laughable.

I can't believe that out of all the recruits that get drawn to Texas that Tyronne Swoopes is the best QB Charlie Strong can find! He's fucking terrible!!! Ought to place an ad on Craigslist...."Wanted: Quarterback for former powerhouse college football team. No experience necessary, will train.". What an embarrassment! I'll tell you one thing for sure....the alumni will not put up with another losing year with no offense (and now, apparently no defense either!!). Charlie's got to be on a short leash....this team is not improving. Maybe they should have started out against Tennessee-Martin instead of Notre Dame?? :1orglaugh (laughing to keep from crying....:crying:).

Yeah but...Kentucky scored 59 against UT Martin last year, so...
Not to say Mississippi isn't dangerous, but...

If Texas does have a bad season, it would be interesting to see what happens.

I read an article last week that Saban is very unhappy at Alabama. He’s been there longer than any other job, and after all this time, he has failed to recruit a star quarterback.

However, it should be no surprise why he can’t. No star quarterback in his right mind would go to a team where the coach is going to use you as a game manager, instead of a true passer where you can showcase your skills to the NFL scouts.

There are two reasons that Saban would not be happy.
1: Everybody else is starting to catch up as far as recruiting speed.
2: He is not much above average as a "game day" coach.

When he was at Michigan State he couldn't out recruit U of M or OSU. As soon as he had one good season he bolted. At LSU he had the entire state to himself as well as a good chunk of Mississippi and east Texas. He went to the NFL and flopped big time. At 'Bama he was getting all the recruits for a while but once kids started to figure out that could get more playing time elsewhere his depth started to fall off. Why is it that he "couldn't compete" for a National title in the Big Ten but Urban Meyer has won one and Mark Dantonio has MSU in the discussion as well?

i suffered that same kind of thing as a bama fan for 17 years..before uncle nick....when we had to fake punt to beat tulane i was out of words. strong could get him a QB from ohio st...everyone up there is a QB it seems

jagger you are right about the cupcake games....you cant use them for a gauge i was just looking at the points ga tech and ole miss had. in a college game 76 points is a lot. if i got my way we would split the league A and B. the A league would play out more like the NFL. the biggest difference i see is at the end of the year. take ohio st...if they finish undefeated they only beat 2 teams the rest were cupcakes. no way to balance things.

Yeah, that's a great example (as was their opener at home against SEMO) but I'm not going to single Mizzou out. They have a lot of company within the top 25.

Good point, the only reason I singled them out is there's no excuse for them to have a home and home with Arkansas State. Lots of teams play cupcakes but they don't travel to their dump, they get them at home.

I was worried that he would pull a Ficken and lose the game for PSU. The Lions' horrendous offensive line didn't give him the chance. 10 sacks, 88 yards rushing. Yikes! :crash:

Missouri's only favored by 10 1/2 in that game ????

As soon as Mizzou does the right thing and starts Drew Lock over Maty Mauk the point spreads will start being higher, mauk is severely crippling that teams upside on offense right now. They said Lock will be there 3 years at best, they need to start the Lock era now.

Maybe Mauk could transfer to Texas! ;)
