Am i the only one starting to think the SEC is a little overrated...My case is that there are 2 GREAT teams in LSU and Alabama, 2 good teams in Georgia and Arkansas, and the other 8 teams are all average or bad. I was never sold on South Carolina, they had some quarterback issues from the start. The East division is pitiful for the most part and LSU and Bama are made to look like gang busters through no fault of their own because they cant control how bad the bottom of the conference is.

Consider this:

Is it overrated when two teams from the same conference can beat anyone else in the country?

Is it overrated when the SEC as a whole is far better than any other overrated conference in the country?

Is there any conference where every member team is just as good as the rest of their conference brothers? - No and there never will be...

Ducks demolish Stanford :nanner: :partysml:

There ya go smoknn, my team just did its part to help your team :glugglug:

But hey even if you don't make it up to number 2 an Oregon/Alabama bowl matchup would be a hell of game :brick:
Personally I think we'd kick your ass :D :flame: :D

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
Who rushes the field after they beat an unranked team? Yeah, Purdue does.

C'mon, man! We beat the Buckeyes in a down year, that's nothing to celebrate. Beat them in basketball, then rush the court. That would be acceptable. As it is we just looked like douche bags...

That cliché gets repeated a lot, but people seem to always forget the times it's not true and it's the offense that was the predominate factor in winning.
could you remind me of what year a team won the NC with a shitty defense..i cant recall

I just wish Bama had Andrew Luck... they would be unstoppable.

Interesting stat: If Bama's D can keep the next two teams from scoring 14 points in each game, it will be the first time a team has held every opponent to 14 or less in a season since 1974 Nebraska.

Good win Ducks and UGA yesterday.

Before this weekend started I didn't think that Bama deserved another shot. Oklahoma St. is the only other team that deserves a shot against LSU is The top three all win out. Stanford had a chance to make it to the Title game if they would have ran the table, but that is gone now. So if Oklahoma St. loses a game, (maybe against Oklahoma) then it looks like a Bama-Bayou Bengals Title Game.

I don't think Oklahoma State will beat Oklahoma, but we'll see. If State loses, that means Bama and Oregon could both pitch a case for playing LSU again. Based on the surprising commentary of ESPN reporters last night and today, most of them want a LSU-Bama rematch.

Auburn last season.

Wrong. Auburn had a shitty defensive coordinator (they still have him ), not a shitty defense. Things turned around late in the season after Chizik increased his attention on the defense.

No you are not the only one who thinks the SEC is overrated. Plenty of people do. However, a whole bunch of people thinking they are right doesn't make them right. The bottom of the SEC conference isn't as bad as you think it is. Some of the teams are actually pretty decent. They just have the unfortunate luck of having tough conference opponents year in and year out. Take Miss. State for example. They are in the SEC west along with Arkansas, LSU, Bama, and Auburn. Three of those teams are currently in the top 10. Three of them have won national championships in the last 5 years. Basically what I am saying is, that even a team near the bottom of the SEC would be able to give many top dogs in other conferences a good run. Case in point, earlier this year Miss. State beat the living hell out of Michigan 55-14. The Same Michigan that always squeaks into the top 25 poll every preseason for some odd reason. If I am not mistaken, the buckeyes and spartans suffered similar fates as well to an overrated SEC team as well.

I do agree thought that SEC does have some generally shitty teams who mostly reside in the eastern part of the conference(Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Tennessee come to mind). SEC west however, is fucking murder. Really tough to get through their unscathed. I doubt you will find many people who would willingly put all those teams on their schedule for the season. Whoever would probably wouldn't have a job for long. Bottom line, SEC is not overrated.

Agree. Nothing special about that defense (except maybe one player).

Really... Rematches!? That's what this season is coming down to?

Worst college football season ever!!!!

Please, please, pleade OK St beat Oklahoma.

As a big Sooner fan, it would be better for college football if OU loses to OSU. :(

Auburn finished 60th in total defense and 53rd in scoring defense last year, which isn't bad in itself. What they were was bad (extreme understatement) at is pass defense finishing 108th and 76th in passing and pass efficiency defense, respectively. However, their saving grace was that they finished 9th in rushing defense and 33rd in turnover margin, the former being exactly why they beat Oregon.

Actually, it would be better for the Big 12. The conference is in pieces, but a chance to play for the National Championship could give it new energy and attract new members.

The big 12 is in pieces because of financial reasons, not because of competitiveness. Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, Texas, Texas Tech, Baylor, and Kansas St have all been ranked at one point this season. And I'm not even including TCU and West Virginia who have also been ranked. Next year the Big 12 will be one of the most competitive/deepest conferences in all college football (2nd only to the SEC).

Unfortunately, the Big 12 doesn't have the eye's or viewership like the other conferences, which is why we're not as financially stable. It sucks because the Big 12 had one of the best athletic conferences in the NCAA, considering their football and basketball programs.

Auburn last season.

that shitty defense held oregons high powered offense to 19 points...oregon scored more than that in the first qtr on everyone else..(words of the BEAR) IF YOU CANT SCORE..YOU CANT WIN!.......FREEEEE JOEEEEEE
