I think that college defensive coordinators are going to have to come up with a new defense against the Spread. Especially the way the Ducks run it, it's impossible to find the ball half the time

I almost think a 2DL - 2 LB - 7 DB formation or something crazy where a team can put a bunch of players on the line and the QB won't know where to run a play or who will actually blitz might be the only way. Fight confusion with confusion..:dunno:

The Duck spread just rips apart conventional defenses too easily...

I sorta feel bad for ol' Weazel....he just watched his team get steamrolled and all he could muster during the halftime interview, "We won't quit!"

I have never seen an offense where I have no fooking clue whether the play will be a pass or a run. Have we ever watched a game where the camera person follows the wrong player and has to do the QUICK WHIP AROUND to find the play... I need to take motion sickness pill in order to watch a broadcast of Oregon :surprise:

Although...after seeing that first half...I have no clue how my Trojans are going to stop this fooking team next week :weeping: We're going to get blown out just as badly I think...

After watching that game I call complete and utter bullshit that Oregon is not the number one team. Oklahoma sucks big donkey balls and if they do happen to go to the BCS championship game, it will only to be steam rolled once again like it's equally overrated counterpart the Ohio State Buckeye.:2 cents:

Time to get the coaching list started for the embarrassments...

I think the Weazel and Norm show has been passed by bigtime by the Crazy chaos in Eugene....

ucla's coaching list
1. Rich Rod?
2. Chris Peterson
3. Dan Mullins (Miss State)
4. Nebraska's offensive coordinator?
5. Anybody else who knows the Spread option?

^
I think that's too gimmicky. The spread/option is a balanced offense. I don't think an offense where the team passes 90% will ultimately win anything...TTech never won anything other than 1 upset of Texas :dunno:

^
I see your point...but they could always through in the spread option.

It's all about the players in the system, and who they can recruit. They could probably be as successful as Oregon, offense-wise, with his system.

Kind of how Michigan could be if we had a damn defense! Fire Greg Robinson!!

That was terrible, UCLA. I was expecting a blowout, but more like a 24-28 point loss. My God. Well at least there's basketball season........oh wait the Bruins suck at that sport too now huh........damn it.

I'm pretty sure Rick Neuheisel is safe through next year. But if they don't improve he won't be around in 2012. Since we're throwing around candidates, I'd throw in Kyle Whittingham of Utah. I wanted Florida to hire him when Urban Meyer retired for 13 seconds.

Who else hates when their school has a bye week? Kind of throws the whole game day off for me.

i been saying it the last few weeks..auburn is the most underrated team in the ncaa..but ranking is not that important at the moment..its going to pan out..the way i see it..by the end of the year..3 of the top 5 teams besides (boise and tcu)...will be well earned the right to be there..i think when the smoke clears this year..we going to know who the best is...ok heres my outlook..(this coming from a die hard crimson tide fan,,ask jagger....If..auburn beats bama in the iron bowl..and..ahhh cough lsu tommorow...auburn wins its first NC...thats my story..and its sticking to me:bigjump:

What an impressive display of offense. I think this Oregon team is more explosive than my 2008 Oklahoma team. Both teams do run what we call "fast break offense".

I just hope the computers were just as impressed as I was.

Dan Mullen should be first on that list, he was behind Florida's Tebow/Gator Deathstar, runs a very physical spread variant, and is doing something that is next to impossible, win at MSST (10-9 going into this w/e).
A little history on State:
The coach with the most wins all time is Jackie Sherrill at 75-75.
The last coach to leave there with a winning record was Darrell Royal in 1958 (12-8 after 2 seasons).
Normally, going to Starkpatch as HFBC is a career killer.

Hey....welcome Missmarley. :glugglug: we certainly have plenty of room for football-lovin' babes here so feel free to chime and talk smack with the rest of us. Our good buddy Baill will be glad to have your Buckeye support.

As far as your comment about SEC teams not playing anything but marshmallows out of conference, I think most ranked teams in all of the BCS conferences are equally guilty of this. There are a few teams that are exceptions. UCLA scheduled Texas on the road this year out-of-conference and beat them. Bravo for them! Likewise, Miami played your beloved Buckeyes in the opener at the horseshoe and gave them a good run for their money. However, I would agree that this is the exception rather than the rule. There's a running joke here in Texas that if the University of Phoenix, DeVry University or ITT Tech ever decide to field football teams, Texas and Texas A & M will have them on the schedule. :1orglaugh

By the way....we already saw a Boise St./TCU bowl just last January. Why on earth would you want to see that again? If it happens again, it will just be more proof that these two teams are permanently uninvited and most unwelcome intruders to the BCS party.

No offense to your Bucks, but I think that Alabama and Oregon are the two best teams in the nation and would make a helluva championship game. 'Bama needs to make up for their loss to South Carolina but they've got the rest of the year to creep up on those teams ahead of them. In fact, at least 2 undefeated teams are guaranteed to lose this week (Oklahoma, Missouri, LSU or Auburn) so, if the Tide can win out and take the SEC championship as the rest of the season plays out, I think they have a real shot to make it to the NC. They'll also need Michigan State to lose somewhere along the line to make that happen. I see BSU and TCU slipping in the BCS as the year wears on and they both play out their cupcake schedules.

Just my opinion of course. Once again, welcome to the thread. :hatsoff:

I do believe you are right about Alabama and Oregan being the two top teams this year and yes I jumped up and down when alabama lost.... hahaha
But still gotta keep cheering for my schools team... I think it would be amazing tho to see Alabama play Ohio State in the snow one time and see Michigan play LSU in the heat..during the season tho.. The bowls have become more about marketing and money than the actual games themselves. Some of the most exciting and amazing games are the ones where the underdog shocks the nation and some of these teams that are the so called underdogs just havnt had the chance to show themselves to the nation against those other teams....
Wouldnt it be awsome tho for them to combine the Big10 and the SEC for one season and do the same with the others just to see what would happen putting some of the big boys together during the season so everyone on their soapbox could get a chance to scream and cry..haha
Sorry, Just my two cents coming from a couple cheerleaders...lmao

Whatever happened to all the "where's he going?" hype around Greg Schiano? :dunno:

If you're looking for a coach who knows how to run the spread and isn't Mike Leach, Gary Pinkel has got to be at the head of the list. Watch Mizzou's offense on Saturday night. You'll see formations where there will be an empty backfield out of the shotgun with trips spread on one side and 2 on the other. Lots of unbalanced line stuff too. Egnew is a TE who plays like a wideout. It's a lot of fun to watch whether they win or not. He's a very underrated coach since Missouri isn't a high-glam program like (ahem) OU and I'm not sure he would be interested in going to Lala land but if you want a coach to run the spread, he's as good as there is.

By the way, where are all the picks? Nobody wants to play anymore? So far, t-rock, will and 'Raider are the only ones who are in. Here's this week's list once again....some great prizes this week so check my prior post for details. Step on up everyone.

Ok Jagger, here are my picks........

Notre Dame vs. Navy (Won't be close.....Notre Dame is alot better than we realize)
Michigan St. at Northwestern (If it's a blowout, State wins. If it's close, NU wins)
Syracuse at West Virginia
Iowa St. at Texas (I'm not counting out an improved Iowa State team in this one)
Penn St. at Minnesota (Major fucking upset. All next week everyone will be discussing whether it's time for JoePa to retire)
Indiana at Illinois (Chappell the much better QB)
Purdue at Ohio St. (Not bad, 4-2 start for Purdue. They may only get 1 win the rest of the way tho)
Ole Miss at Arkansas (It'll be an exciting, close game. As it always is between these schools)
Rutgers at Pittsburgh (Rutgers = major disappointment for me this year)
Duke at Virginia Tech (Annihilation)
LSU at Auburn (I can't believe I just picked LSU to win this game)
Wisconsin at Iowa (Iowa = favorite to win the Big Ten)
Georgia Tech at Clemson
Nebraska at Oklahoma St. (Why isn't Justin Blackmon getting any Heisman love?)
Arizona St. at California (ASU outplays Cal but Threet throws too many costly INTs)
Washington St. at Stanford
Colorado St. at Utah (They could win the Pac-10 next year. No fucking joke)
Alabama at Tennessee (Simms gets eaten alive)
Texas A&M at Kansas (Kansas is to the Big XII what Minnesota is to the Big Ten and Wash State is to the Pac-10 these days)
South Carolina at Vanderbilt
North Carolina at Miami (FL) (Toss up)
Georgia at Kentucky (I'm telling you UGa could win the East)
Oklahoma at Missouri (I'm not real sure how good Mizzou is. Not a knock on them, just unsure. This game will be the tell-tale sign.)
Air Force at TCU (Too bad Air Force lost last week to an underrated SDSU team, otherwise TCU would be getn mad props for winning this one)
Washington at Arizona (UW won last week. Which means they're fucked this week)

Also, I think Baylor will cream Kansas State, knocking them back out the Top 25. And watch out for UAB against Mississippi State.

^You've got Minny over Penn State? The week after Minny canned their coach??

Penn State might put up 60 in an easy win.

In Knoxville and ready to tailgate... my God, all the bright orange is burning my retinas!
