USC can lay claim to 11 NCs. You have some "disputed" NCs. Both USC and Bama have 31 bowl victories. Our bowl winning percentage is better than yours. We have more Heismans and more 1st Rd draft picks...and I bet more players drafted in the NFL and certainly more players currently playing in the NFL than Bama...

I think Texas is the best team in the nation. I think Bama is #2 and Florida is #3. I still maintain that South Carolina is going to beat Alabama. The Cocks have a defense stout enough to shutdown Bama. Maybe they can kick a couple of FGs and sneak out with a win.

our bowl games wasnt a cake walk with high school teams like daddys boys usc.....so after losing to washington...and after losing again soon...after losing 2.......i cant wait to see the one sided bcs find a way to get them in the rose bowl........boy o boy how i wish they was in the sec...then they would find out about playing 6 tough games a year........vandy and miss st would push them out of the way early they never would make it to the bama florida lsu or auburn games

well of late USC has turned out far better defensive players.many of the offensive players are overhyped and turn into duds in the NFL. The exception is quaterbacks
what the hell happened to Houston?
congrats to Miami for going 3-1 through a hell schedule

Huh? The PAC 10 Champs and Big 10 Champs will play in the Rose Bowl.

Tough loss!!!

Losing Ryan Broyles in the 1st quarter was huge. He's been our best offensive player this season, and was by far Jones' favorite target. Without him, we were not able to stretch the field. I thought the play calling on offense was a little too conservative, and the play calling on defense was too aggressive. At the end, we still had them were we wanted them... and blew it!

This is the second time my Sooners came to South Florida this year and lost. I actually thought the Canes fans were a little bit more respectful than the Gator fans were last year. It made the loss a little bit more easier. I actually stayed and celebrated with them, which was a little awkward. If we had to lose to any team, I'm glad it was the Canes. They are now the team I'm rooting for to make it to the National title game. Going 3-1 in the first 4 games against 4 top 20 teams has got to say something.

I hate to take anything away from BYU and Miami, but to lose two games by one point with a Heisman trophy winner on the sidelines, you can only say... what if?

What was up with the 5 or 6 straight running plays there before OU's last FG?????

As good as you may be at running to a certain hole NO DEFENSE will allow you to keep pounding the same hole without loading up to stop it at some point.... ESPECIALLY not a Defense as fast and physical as Miami (FL) can be at times.

Not a single play-action during that sequence???? OU needed a TD...why are they trying to protect the FG attempt???

I don't know who's calling plays for Stoops' offense but you've got to be better strategically than that in your play calling.

It was the same type of confusing play calls in the championship game against UF. Just dumbfounding IMO.

F.Y.I....USC destroyed the last 2 SEC teams they played. The only teams out of their conference to even put up a fight against SC recently here has been just been in this last OSU game and Texas when they beat USC to keep them from going back to back. Every other game has been blow out city.

As good as Florida has been....I'm not sure SC wouldn't have taken them to the woodshed in a one game situation.

SC is clearly as talented as any team in the country year in and year out or moreso..even if they don't play like it in every game. I've attended some of their practices and some pro teams don't practice with the intensity they do. So when they are lined up in a one game situation for a championship or bowl game and they're fired up and on their game....you have to be damned good to stop them.

Hell, but for a few other-worldly runs by V Young that game could have gotten out of hand for Texas.

Trying to debate USC's prowess and success under Carroll is pretty silly IMO.

Well, what can you expect from "Big game Bob". He pulled that same shit in the title game. He'll only be here for a season or two. Hopefully we can get one of the big name NFL coaches who are currently waiting for a job.

Hard to go that far though....as long as he keeps lining up those $17million bowl games for OU pretty difficult to see them trying to pull the trigger on him.

The OC might be a different story though..

Carson was on his way to being the #1 QB in the NFL before his knee injuries. He's still a top 5 QB. Leinart either hasn't been given a chance or he needs to be traded for a fresh start. He's rotting away on the bench. I get the sense that he doesn't really care to play, to be honest. I'm not giving up on Reggie yet, but he certainly has not dominated the NFL like I thought he would. Dwayne Jarrett, Mike Williams look like massive busts. Steve Smith is starting to mold into an NFL player. Lendale is solid but 1 dimensional. The TEs seem lost in the NFL. The OL players are starters but not spectacular...the offense track record is not good. The Defenders in the NFL are generally studs all around...

Huh? The PAC 10 Champs and Big 10 Champs will play in the Rose Bowl.
I'm taking your advice. There's no use in feeding the Bama Fan.

What are you talking about? We still have the Tigers! Oh, wait...:crash:
Ya know...this thread isn't the same when you don't come in here and SCREAM DANTONIO!! :D

I think Cal completely choked yesterday. That was a horrendous performance by Cal. I did think we played well, but they made us look like USC 2005. I am waiting for SC to administer a beatdown in South Bend...:thefinger

I feel for you Will and you can "what if?" all you want but....OU didn't lose the game because of injuries. They lost because Miami's defense shut you down when they had to and Franks lost his mind on that easy TD pass to Benjamin.....even though Brent Musburger and the refs tried as hard as they could to give it back to you with that bullshit roughing-the-kicker call against Joseph. Ridiculous. Oh well....we won anyway so....:D. Whipple called a great sequence on that last possession.

That said....Randy Shannon had better get this team to play more disciplined in the future if they hope to have any chance of winning the ACC. WAY too many stupid penalties and dumb interceptions! That's the problem with such a young team.

As for OU....they may be a very dangerous wounded animal right now. Mack Brown would be wise to keep the 'Horns sharp as a razor against these guys or else there may be a few surprises in store when they play. The truth of the matter is....OU can STILL win the Big 12 and get a major BCS berth....both losses are out-of-conference so as far as that goes, both teams are even. Stoops would like nothing more than to spoil the party for Texas and Bradford will be back for sure by then. Should be a great game.

Also....saying that the 'Canes fans were more sportsmanlike than the Gator fans were isn't saying a whole lot in my book. Still, I appreciate the comment and am glad that you will be rooting for UM as things go forward. Frankly, I still think we may be a year away from being a true title contender but it is really good to see us in the thick of the battle after the monstrous fucking schedule we have had to play these first 4 games. No school in the nation has had a tougher slate and we are 3-1....not bad at all. I'll be very interested to see where we are ranked this week.

Great game though....especially if you are a 'Canes fan!!!

I think the time to get rid of Big Game Bobby is when OU no longer gets to the big one....

I think we all know (except maybe Bama fan) that it would be a different OU team with Bradford out there. Florida has got to watch it because teams are going to be headhunting Tebow now. Knock him out--beat the Gators.:dunno:

Totally agree! I thought OU was lucky to be in that game in the fourth quarter.

I don't know about that. OU is offensively challenged. Even if we get Bradford back, I don't see us doing much without Broyles in the line-up. We are just too young on offense at this point. The only thing threatening about OU offense at this point is DeMarco Murray, and even he can be contained.

I think I'm just going to have to get use to OU being just a good, but not great team. We need to find an identity.

I think I'm just a little frustrated the way this season is going. I had such high hopes for my Sooners and it's just sad to see the season go down like this.

Bob had done so much for this program considering where we were in the 90's.

2000-2009:

2008 Oklahoma 12-2 National Championship game (BCS)
2007 Oklahoma 11-3 Fiesta Bowl (BCS)
2006 Oklahoma 11-3 Fiesta Bowl (BCS)
2005 Oklahoma 8-4 Holiday Bowl
2004 Oklahoma 12-1 National Championship game (BCS)
2003 Oklahoma 12-2 National Championship game (BCS)
2002 Oklahoma 12-2 Rose Bowl (BCS)
2001 Oklahoma 11-2 Cotton Bowl
2000 Oklahoma 13-0 National Championship game (BCS)

People should be talking about OU instead of USC, but that's "Big game bob" for you. Oh well. :dunno:

Nice try but Mack and the boys better not be lulled into a false sense of security or else the Sooners will hand them their asses as they have SO MANY TIMES in the past. My guess is we'll be ready to play and may the best team win. If that scenario plays out, Texas wins. If not....

Also, I understand your frustration about Stoops but there about a hundred or so Division 1 NCAA programs that would kill to have him for their coach. If OU fires him, they're crazy. He's terrific....he can coach my team any day.

Okie's season can be written off to bad luck. On another bend, is the Big10 the worst conference or what?

Houston proved that the stats do lie.

No, they proved that:

1) You can't rest on your laurels.
2) Games are ultimately won with defense. Evidently, they forgot how to play same after last week's victory over Texas Tech.

I don't care how prolific your offense is, if you give up 58 points, you're probably going to lose. Maybe that's the point you were trying to make?

Case Keenum is incredible either way.

Am I the only one who hates Boise State? I can't stand that they play on a blue field. They are one of the teams that I root against whenever they play.

LSU/Georgia....hard hitting, tough, defensive game....Les Miles wills LSU to another win. FSU made a game of it after looking like they would get blown out.

OU was driving the ball late in the 4th against Miami (FL) down 21-17 got inside the 40 and ran the ball 6 straight times I believe. The gained good yardage but as always is the case a defense will shut you down if you go to the well too often. The kicked a FG and Miami (FL) got a couple of first downs....good night Sooners..21-20.

Michigan lost in OT against MSU (Desmond Howard wore green on Gameday...I'm supposing he lost a bet or something, in either case that didn't bode well)...rain soaked day after falling behind 20-6 Tate Forcier authored more last second heroics and brought us back for a tie to send it into OT. The kid was a gassed as I've ever seen any player....maybe running around on that soaked field played a role but on 3rd and goal at about the six yard line he threw a late pass in the endzone and it was deflected then intercepted.

On the ensuing MSU possession MSU frosh (I believe) eventually broke a tackle and ran in a TD for the win.
