If I can remember right... didn't Snead ruin the Longhorns' chances to a BCS or national title berth because of his god awful performance when they played Kansas St a couple of years ago?:1orglaugh

I think that allowed my Sooners to advance and win the Big 12 title.

On the contrary! He was terrific. The Horns were down by 21 points in that game and Snead brought them back to within 3 until only a few seconds were left in the game and we couldn't grab the onside kick. He and McCoy were both freshmen that year and McCoy was the starter but he got hurt early in the game and Snead took over.....2006. I remember it well.

He transferred to Old Miss after it became evident that Colt was going to be the man. It could have just as easily been Jevan Snead leading the Horns this year instead of McCoy. He's a great talent.

We were just too young that year to compete with OU. It was after the undefeated season and we lost a shitload of players who graduated or left early. I know there are lots of great rivalries in college football but Texas-Oklahoma is hard to beat!

Oh, ok! All I remember was Texas losing, and Snead was playing and Colt was out because of an injury. I thought maybe they lost that game because of a young Snead. :hatsoff:

No rivalry is even close right now! :glugglug:

I don't know the Ohio State-Michgan rivalry is a good one but with Michigan been down it has lost some of its zap.So I can see Texas-Oklahoma being the best one. What about the Oklahoma State-Oklahoma game the fan their are just crazy:thumbsup:

Agreed, I have a bet w/a buddy that the Domers will finish w/double digit wins.

if they don't it will be curtains for weis. and really, with their schedule this year, they should have 10 wins. anything less means another stupid loss.

one point to think about is this - charlie weis has not yet had a single big win. not one where the irish were playing a big ranked team. i don't think he's the problem, but i don't know that the school can produce teams that should be on the national rankings anymore.

^^ If I knew of a place large enough to dispose of his body, Weis would be dead by now. I hate that team, its players, coaching staff, alumni, city, and fans. A more detestable and vile species of man does not exist anywhere outside of South Bend. May they toil in mediocrity for years to come.

I take it you don't like the Fighting Irish:1orglaugh that is how I feel about Flordia:1orglaugh

several things strike me about your post:
1. "a place large enough" doesn't exist. even after gastric bypass.
2. he has some good coaching staff, and don't hate on the players. seriously, can you imagine being 18 and passing up a big-assed offer from a legacy school line notre dame? give the boys some love. and they do have a good quarterback and a decent receiver.
3. they've been in mediocrity for nearly 20 years. even with a big season this year, more of the same - a season of meaningless wins.
4. you may be a bit bitter. i think we should drink together while watching a game. i'll cheer you.:glugglug:

If I was an Ohio State fan, I would be very excited to hear that.

No matter who was going to be the QB for 'SC, I don't see a high scoring game between these teams. Terrell Pryor is still a raw talent. The Trojans D still has a bunch of ballhawks.

Instead of my initial 66-13 USC blowout win prediction :)thefinger Luckeye Fan), I will ratchet it down to a more realistic 17-14 kind of game....

Wow defense I don't see Ohio State keeping it close I see USC breaking it open in the second half and winning 31-14 but hey that is me I was think that 'SC defense will step it up.Do you know something I don't know:dunno:

USC really doesn't have a proven second WR (or 3rd). Damien Williams is the only WR who can do something. There are plenty of RBs, but Ohio State (at home) can stop the run, for the most part.

I think Ohio State is in the same boat. They have some RBs who can pound it, but they graduated/sent to the draft a bunch of good WRs. I don't think the Ohio State passing attack will *frighten* USC....

So, in all of that, I see a lot of punts...

You might have a point... if Oklahoma State wasn't always losing. :1orglaugh

2003- OU 52, Okl St 9
2004- OU 38, Okl St 35
2005- OU 42, Okl St 14
2006- OU 27, Okl St 21
2007- OU 49, Okl St 17
2008- OU 61, Okl St 41
:D

Ouch!!!! Killer response.....but we'll see what happens this year. :D

Where do they play this year by the way? Norman or Stillwater?

So because Pete Carrol is playing what he sees as USC's best option, you won't give OSU credit if they win?

^
Huh? Of course I'll give OSU credit for a win--by 1pt or 20 pts.

Sanchez's first game was at (unranked) Virginny and it was an SC wipeout--55-7 or something

Leinart's first game as a starter was at #6 Auburn and it was a pretty comfortable 23-0 win.

So, based on recent first game results by SC QBs....I'm feeling purty good--freshman or not...:thefinger:

I really do think this will be a tight, close, low-scoring game. I *assume* OSU has their usual solid DLine, solid LB, maybe this is the year that they don't have great DBs like they normally do :dunno:
