In his inaugural address, President Obama proclaimed "an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn-out dogmas that for far too long have strangled our politics."

Over the past month, Obama has reminded the public at every turn that he is facing problems "inherited" from the Bush administration, using increasingly bracing language to describe the challenges his administration is up against. The "deepening economic crisis" that the president described six days after taking office became "a big mess" in remarks this month to graduating police cadets in Columbus, Ohio.

"By any measure," he said during a March 4 event calling for government-contracting reform, "my administration has inherited a fiscal disaster

Wny be so short sighted? He inherited a $10 Trillion dollar debt, why would anyone expect this will go away? There is also a 10% unemployment rate and home foreclosures are at new records these past few months.

The US economy is in ruins and he's trying the economic recovery used by Roosevelt to provide jobs while trying to prop up the collapsing infrastructure.

Not that complicated to see the cause and effect.

Two different things IMO. Realistically calling it as you see it (facts which no one disputes) in an effort to remind people of the challenge is not partisan rancor...even if it happens to point the blame at an opposing party predecessor.

I hear what your saying but this is a guy who was asking for personal responsbility in politics, when do we hold him accountable?

When it's his fuck-up. The country has been headed toward an economic disaster since the 80s.

First it was the worst economic disaster for decades.... then "we fixed it", now back to "sucks bad" again.

feller gets it partly right.... no matter what economies are cyclic.

You hold him accountable right now for the things he does or doesn't do.

It's not realistic to think he or anyone else has a magic wand or that he can simply will things to be okay.

Too many people have this misperception. Was speaking to this Asian chick who couldn't understand why people were still getting laid off 2 months after Obama took office.

Bush fucked it up for 8 years. You expect Obama to fix it in one?

I agree that Obama is dropping the ball in some ways, but that's just ridiculous.

What do you want Obama to do, lie and say none of it's Bush's fault? That's ignoring reality.

My thoughts exactly.

Even if it wasn't Obama in office at the moment. Do you really think whoever it was wouldn't blame Bush too? Of course they would, this is what politicians do. But when there are sufficient grounds for blame - as there definitely are in this case - then it's warranted all the more.

Bush's administration basically had the country in an economic depression that became a recession over his 8 years in office. Who else is to blame?

I gotta love threads like this  :D Seriously who made the promises during the electoral campaign that he will fix the economy? Daddy O is the obvious answer. Who made stupid bail outs and who has made the CIT bank gone bankrupt despite the numerous funds and money that were injected in it? Daddy O again is the obvious answer.
Obama shouldn't have promised what wasn't in his possibilities.

the bailouts were orchestrated in the last months of the Bush administration. Obama inherited them. if you think the idea of raping the American people financially sprung up in mid-January 2009, you are just plain wrong. AIG agreed to terms of a bailout in November 08. Guess who was president then? Remember how you howled when Clinton pardoned people in his last acts as President? Seems a little less heinous now, doesn't it?

But yet Obama still signed them into law. If he did not agree with the bailouts then should should not have signed it till Congress came up with a better plan. he is the President he has Veto power.

Nah....just run of the mill hypocrisy and inconsistency. What else is new?
