Sounds like ****. Thank God I am an American so I don't have to eat that ****.
I chow on triple cheeseburgers, slushes and french fries.

...and that is just breakfast.

Preferably on toast, but also on ryvita or matzos.
And marmite flavour crisps - yum!

Marmite is another name for Vegemite and its a totally Australian product like the sausage roll and Arnott's. Its a sandwich spread made of yeast extract. I tasted it once before when I was in the land of down-under.

I've never had it because it's pretty much impossible to find here in the states, but a couple friends that I know had it(Vegimite, which is the same thing but just called Marmite in Europe) and they both say that it's pretty much and abomination and absolutely atrocious.I would like to try it though, just for the hell of it.

You can find it at high end groceries and import stores like Pier 1.

I've never had British marmite. The NZ variety isn't as strong (less tangy) and is probably better for it.
It feels weird reading about some people who havent had it having some acute fear of its horrible taste.
Its pretty normal to eat around these parts. flylicker

Thanks larss. The never-ending competition between the commonwealth states...Australia vs England vs New Zealand...in cricket, rugby, netball, etc. Back in the 80s, I visited an Australian store in LA...called the Koala Blue where they specialized in retailing mostly Aussie imports. I asked the staff about the marmite and vegemite on their store shelves. That was their quote. Now these days, Koala Blue are only selling wines & confectionaries.

what the fuck is it? :dunno:

I like it, but I prefer Twiglets. A sort of snack that tastes like Marmite.

I was curious after reading this thread and picked up some at the store. It's not all that bad. It's very salty, but there's a nice, somewhat smokey flavor in there as well. It's good but not $5 for a little jar good. I originally voted "no" but now I can't remember why.
