Xbox 720 ?

I love how everyone has just assumed that Microsoft is going to call it the 720.

I read about this on IGN.com. I'll wait until there is actual confirmation from Microsoft before I start believing anything.

This.

If there's one thing I've learned about the videogame industry, it's that rumors fly all over the place and it's best to pretty much ignore them until an actual announcement.

A lot of sources are calling it the 720, so that may not be the final name for it, but there is probably a great possibility it will be. Also, 299 might be for the lowest model.

There's also been word that it will be called Xbox Infinity and recently Microsoft has trademarked "Xbox 8". The infinity symbol is an '8' on its side and Microsoft is about to fully release the Microsoft 8 OS too. My money is on that it'll be called Xbox Infinity or possibly Xbox 8

I read in the Xbox mag (yeah, nerd, I know) that microsoft has officially codenamed it "Durango". Obviously it won't be called that when it comes out, but if MS were to release any actual news about it, I assume that's what they'd call it.

Do you get keys and a 30,000 mile warranty with it?

Hope its not Xbox 8. Xbox Infinity sounds better.

The interesting thing for me is how much sooner it will be released than PS4? I want to always be on the cutting edge of gaming so this is important for me.

Even if the games suck?

And what if PS4 comes out first?

It always seems like the trend is Xbox then PS on releasing systems. Either way, it's going to be interesting what they are going to put in their systems that aren't already available.

Then you'd probably be better off with a PC. As the years go on, game consoles become obsolete in comparison in just 2-3 years. I've never had a PC for gaming but I think about doing it every so often. Just hook it up to the LED TV, sit on the couch and you can't tell the difference (except I imagine the resolution might not be that good then)

I agree with this to a point. I think they are purposly leaving out computer capabilities just to say it isn't a "computer."

yeah, still not buying lamebox.

also, the console people need to slow the fuck down.

Are we gonna have to have this conversation again, Squally? You know, the one about how only using old shit and pretending not to care about the awesome new shit doesn't impress anybody? Ok, back to the SNES thread.

If you have a TV capable of 1080P then you'll be fine in terms of resolution and won't notice any difference.

As for the 720, all I know is I'm glad they're putting BluRay support into it cause swapping discs on the 360 is so lame.

Remember the last time they rushed to get a console out before a competitor's console hit the market? I remember a lot of crappy manufacturing and an unprecedented amount of consoles that ended up breaking and needing to be sent back to get fixed.

i just dont care for the system. new or old. just like i never cared for the sega systems.

i play something new. the wii. i also had a psp, didnt care for that either. sold it.

tried both xboxes several times, didnt like em. i think the games are more focused on graphics than gameplay.
