it pains me to bring this to everyones attention. bam bam was one of the first wrestlers i liked. its truly a sad day.:crying:

http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/bambampasses

For a man of his size, my gosh can he manurer around the ring just like a high-flying cruiserweight

I watched this match and had some thoughts:

Compared to todays WWE matches where people kick out of finishers repeatedly, it took Bam Bam, very little to keep Nikolai Volkoff down for the count.

The kind of match they had was totally different from the kind of matches these days.

Was there entrance music back then? when did pyros and titantrons start?

this along with his tatted skull were the reasons i like him.

in my opinion, those days were about the match, not the finishers. i have a lot of the old school pay per views on dvd and vhs. there a lot of matches won with very little effort. (small packages, weak outside interference, etc.) my favorite era though.

bam bam had entrance music in that match with volkoff. not everyone had music back then. it wasnt until wrestlemania V until most had entrance music. by VII, all had entrance music. the titantron was not around during raws first days.

and im not sure about pyro, but raw may have been the first for that as well. with the exception of wrestlemanias. :dunno:

WWE needs to get rid of all the boring in ring talking and backstage shit that wastes time and bring back the old style of wrestling and mix it up with the new style

dont forget 90 percent of outside interference. it seems like every match has some kind of interference. yes, focus on the match itself and combine that with these finishers today that nobody ever saw in the old school.

stone cold might come back.

Due to his new WWE Films project, "The Condemned" set for release in April, legendary WWE superstar "Stone Cold" Steve Austin will be making his highly anticipated return to WWE television shortly.

The current plan at this point is to integrate Austin back into some sort of regular storyline, as to get use out of him at WrestleMania 23, to co-promote with his movie project in April.

More details on this story as we receive them.

I really hope that this is going to be worth it

I dont expect it to be worth it, But I can dream, can't I?

Is anything they do in WWE worth IT these days?

icerfan

Nikkala made me do it!
probably not, but i dont care. all i want to see him do is give a few of these:thefinger then do this:fight: and finally, a few of these:glugglug: :D
I'd nominate that for Post of the Week, but I don't think the non-WWE fans would understand the humor! LOL

undertaker is misused to the fullest degree.

what do you mean? They are building up for Batista Vs. Undertaker at Wrestlemania

Undertaker or Orton will win the Royal Rumble Match on Sunday

what im saying is that undertaker should have had his shot months ago. how long does vince and co. think taker has left. out of respect alone, undertaker should get another title run. at wrestlemania, taker should be defending. not challenging. it could very well be his last. i would rather see him turn back a challenger than overcome odds. thats all todays wrestling is. overcoming odds.

How will fans react to that? Two beloved superstars going at it. Isn't it usually an asshole goin up against a fan fave? Like Kennedy and Batista? Hell i dont know what im talking about.

wrestlemania VI. im sure you know the details. the fans will root for the noobie. but this is the undertaker. vince will not end his unbeaten streak. kane was offered it and he refused. nobody will beat taker at the biggest show on earth.

From Wikipedia

* Stone Cold Steve Austin has won the most Royal Rumble matches by winning the 1997, 1998 and 2001 Rumbles.

* Rey Mysterio has spent the longest time in a Royal Rumble when in 2006 he lasted a time of 1:02:12. Conversely, The Warlord has spent the shortest time in a Royal Rumble when in 1989 he lasted a time of 0:02.

* The longest Royal Rumble match was held in 2002 with a time of 1:09:23. The shortest Royal Rumble match was held in 1988 with a time of 33:00. It should be noted that that match only had 20 entrants. The shortest Royal Rumble with 30 entrants was the 1995 Royal Rumble at 38:39, where entrants entered at 60 second intervals.

* Kane currently has the most consecutive appearances in the Rumble with 8 appearances from 1999 to 2006. Kane is also set to be participating in the 2007 Royal Rumble.
* Both Solofa Fatu (who participated as Fatu, The Sultan and Rikishi) and Glen Jacobs (who participated as Issac Yankem DDS, "Diesel" and Kane) have made more Royal Rumble appearances than anyone else with 10.

* In 1998, Mick Foley made the most appearances in a single Rumble, when he entered as Cactus Jack, Mankind and Dude Love.

* Stone Cold Steve Austin has made more eliminations overall than anyone else with 36.
* Kane has the record for most eliminations in a single Rumble when he eliminated 11 wrestlers in 2001.

* Three wrestlers have won two Royal Rumble matches in a row. They are Hulk Hogan (1990 & 1991), Shawn Michaels (1995 & 1996), Steve Austin (1997 & 1998).

* Shawn Michaels and Chris Benoit have both won the Royal Rumble at #1, and Rey Mysterio and Vince McMahon has won it at #2, the slots theoretically least likely to allow someone win the Rumble (it has to be reminded that the first two slots enter into the match at the same time).

* The #27 slot has given more wins than any other slot. Big John Studd, Yokozuna, Bret Hart and Stone Cold Steve Austin each won a Royal Rumble at 27.

* Ironically, the slot most likely to allow someone win the Rumble, #30, is one of the 17 numbers that no Rumble entrant has ever won with.

* Rey Mysterio is the shortest winner of the Royal Rumble, and is also the only masked wrestler to win.

* Chyna is the only woman who has ever participated in the Royal Rumble.

* Stone Cold Steve Austin spent the shortest time in a Rumble to win when in 2001, he spent around 9 minutes in the match.

* The most consecutive eliminations is seven, by Diesel in the 1994 Royal Rumble. Rikishi also made seven consecutive eliminations in the 2000 Royal Rumble.

I wonder if any records will be broken or set at tonights Royal Rumble?

Who is your prediction to be this years winner?

My choices are:

1. Randy Orton
2. The Undertaker
3. Edge

Ok, Here's My Predictions...

1 - Hardys vs MNM - MNM with this feud continuing on to Wrestlemania.
2 - ECW CHAMPIONSHIP Lashley vs Test - Lashley, but I'm rooting for Test!
3 - SMACKDOWN CHAMPIONSHIP - Batista vs Mr. Kennedy - Batista, which will lead up to a 3-way at Wrestlemania vs..???
4 - RAW CHAMPIONSHIP - Cena vs Umaga - Umaga, but in some way that he doesn't actually get the title. Though, I think Cena doesn't need the title to remain on top and he should drop it to someone else...but to Umaga???
5 - RUMBLE - Undertaker - Vince always says he knows what the people want...well, they want the Deadman to have one more title run. He wins the Rumble, faces Batista AND Mr. Kennedy in a 3-way at Wrestlemania and wins it.

And for fun you can vote for who you think would win the ULTIMATE ROYAL RUMBLE at the WWE.com site...

http://www.wwe.com/shows/royalrumble/4011430/

...though, the fact that Micheals and HHH have lasted this long in the voting makes me want to puke...and suspect that the fix is in!

HA!

What are others predictions?

Vince never does anything the fans want to see, Vince Does what he wants to do, thats why the WWE is as fucked as it is right now

You are right. How does Vince put it? "I know what the fans want because I TELL them what they want!".

Just hoping one time what he wants and what the fans want are the same thing.

From my understanding it's supposed to be streak vs. championship at Wrestlemania. I think it would be an injustice to the Undertaker's legacy if he were to lose to Batista on the biggest stage of them all. My prediction is that the Undertaker will win the Royal Rumble and then win the championship. Even though you don't necessarily need to win the Rumble in order to get a title shot at Mania, I would think that Vince would make that match the main event. Then again like you all said Vince does what he wants and could care less about the people who actually watch his product.
