No, thanks. I would rather live in Texas, Alabama or NY.

i have. for a long time. the only thing i miss about it is the food and the fishing.

overrated and fucking expensive as hell.

We've got an advert here in the UK advertising holidays in California. Does the place need the tourism/money?

Yes, I would.

But only the west coast of Cali (aka Hawai'i :1orglaugh )

Oh, yeah. My favourite bands is from California - Possessed, Forbidden, Heathen.

I've lived in California since the age of eight. Part of the time in the Bay Area but most of it in Los Angeles.
I've visited 39 other states.
Other than Hawaii there isn't another state I might prefer to live in. Oregon would probably be my third choice.

The ONLY major drawback to living in Cali is the traffic in and around large metropolitan areas. It's freaking horrible with a captial H

Otherwise you've got the greatest climate, fantastic mountains and beaches, a wide variety of vegetation, topography, architecture, arts, entertainment options, and the highest concentration of beautiful women in the U.S.

In the winter you can go surfing in the morning, hop in your car and drive three hours and ski in the afternoon.

Los Angeles' avg daytime temperature January through December

69 69 71 73 75 79 84 85 84 79 73 68

While 2/3 the country is shoveling snow and freezing its ass off we're at the beach :sunny:
[or playing golf, Scott :D ;) ]

And those temps in the 80s aren't oppressive either because they don't come with high humidity ala the south and midwest :drool2: :helpme: :drool2:

Just curious - and I know it's MASSIVE - but how far is your state in the "red" again? Isn't it as big as some countries in Europe? Plus don't even get me started on the illegal immigrant tragedy and that in some places you can't even get a job if you aren't bilingual.

Minnesota's "Debt Clock" isn't a whole lot better http://www.usdebtclock.org/state-debt-clocks/state-of-minnesota-debt-clock.html
Your unemployment rate is lower but the other numbers are pretty proportionate with California's.
On the up side, Cali and Minn are both "donor states", meaning we pay more in federal taxes than we receive in federal aid.
