Let's see ... earthquakes, wildfires, heavy rains with deadly mudslides, celebrities, San Francisco, the Raiders, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, illegals. Other than that, I'd totally live in Cali.

i have. for a long time. the only thing i miss about it is the food and the fishing.

overrated and fucking expensive as hell.

Only in a tamer place, like Sacramento. Problem is, it's too expensive there.

If you like Medical Marijauna then California is the best state. I feel about 20 years ahead of the bible belt states, living in California. We all know that the two real capitals of the USA are L.A. and NY. Im glad people talk shit about Cali, I dont want people moving to Cali from other states, they will never be true Californians. I dont want to be liked by ignorant trash from Mississippi. People talk about the illegals in California, but I'd take them over the White trash in the bible belt any day.

Yeah, sure. I've always wanted to see what it was like to live in a massive city like Los Angeles. The heat would force me to block out the Sun a'la Mr. Burns, but I would like to be able to look down my street and not see hundreds of kilometres of fields.

Been through 2 baby earthquakes here. I'll stick with the occasional hurricane or tornado.

Nope.

My last job tried to get me to transfer to the cali facility to work with juvenile boys. I really didn't have a desire to work with delinquent gang banging boys, or live in a state that has earthquakes, mudslides, and is hellishly expensive to live in.

Heh. I was born in good ol' California. Aaaand...I'd never move back. Most of my family is still there, mostly around the Bay Area, so I've got to visit often in the long years since I left (which was when I was but a wee lad, to be fair). But coming from Oregon, California is overpopulated, dirty, terribly expensive, and the cities are planned as vast concrete playgrounds with the occasionally 'nature bandaid'. I wouldn't even dare try riding a bike there (even though, if I remember correctly, the laws are quite bicycle-friendly...the roads, however, are not).

One telling experience that showed the mentality of a Californian: when contemplating walking down to the shop a few blocks away for something, the Oregonians said 'that's not far, let's walk'. The Californians said: 'nah, we'll just drive.'

That said, California's massive (you can fit Great Britain three times over and then some into California) and does have some really nice places to visit. A drive down the 101's an amazing trip, and sights like the redwood forest are not ones to be missed.

How is that any different from your current job?
