yet Trinidad gets to play Bahrain for a place at the World Cup? And poor Australia have to get knocked out by Uruguay again? The South American 9th placed team is stronger than a lot of qualified teams - South America is a very tough place to qualify from. They should obviously have to face the North American team for a place, not the poor bloody Australians who never have a look in

Australias HAS been done a gross injustice not only because of their playoff match but they also play in a group with Asian teams who they don't match.

And with all due respect, who let Israel into the European qualifying zone? And why? I'm just kidding.

I know you were just kidding but Israel can't participate in an Asian group due to political reasons. They also participate in the Eurovision and the Euro tournaments.
I dislike, however, how you underrated them after talking about overrated and underrated; if you check their scores you'll see they didn't lose even once this campaign and they had a pretty difficult group: France, Switzerland and Ireland. Despite that difficult group, they finished third with the same points as Switzerland, who is in second spot.
Gotta give them some respect. Just some.

OK, I'll give them some respect. Just some. No, sure, they're a tough outfit, would have been interesting to see them at the World Cup, nice to see hey have a Palestinian player on the team too. Sorry for joking about Israel. I forgot we're not allowed to do that. :helpme:

You should do your best eleven players in the world too, it's fun. No Australians or Israelis allowed in the team. I'm kidding!

Lol, I tried but it'd be biased. I'm a Juventus fan so half my team is Juve players and another big chunk of it is Milan players. Give me like 30 mins I'll come up with something.

Oh! That's interesting!

Because I'm an AC Milan fan from age 7 until death, and that's one of the reasons I love Holland (Van Basten) and Barca (Rijkaard), but I dislike Juve SO much - I'm sorry! They are just too good. They are like Chelsea, but without the money. I was in Turin in August and someone stole the keys to the car while we were sleeping in it. We were stranded on the main street of Torino for two days until my brother flew a spare set out to us from England.

The Delle Alpi, though, is BEAUTIFUL. But that's why you see no mention of Thuram, Vieira, Zlatan, Emerson, that b*tch Trezeguet... Juve are just too good. I worship Milan, I want them to win Serie A finally after 2 years of black and white domination but look at Juve again! Winning every game. Have you seen their new stadium? it's gorgeous, but what a shame to leave the Delle Alpi. I peed on the Delle Alpi in August because I was mad at Turin, please forgive me. It was two nights before they lost to Inter in the Super Cup there. My brother is a die hard Inter fan, he was happy.

Anyway, it's interesting you pick mostly Milan players and Juve players, 'cause Juve are supposed to hate Milan and Milan hate Juve even more than they hate Inter. But Juve are so good that even I picked Buffon and Nedved - how can you deny excellence?

Damn Juventus... this year at the San Siro and the Delle Alpi - Milan v Juve - those two games may decide the league. May the best team win. So let's see your best eleven then. Hey wsn't it nice that Milan gave Juve Abbiati after they crippled poor Buffon (accidentally) in a friendly? I hope you don't put David Trezeguet on the team but I'mn sure you will. Juve are one of those teams that you could pick the entire XI as a World XI and people could take you seriously. But clearly, obviously, Ascoli will win Serie A this season. It's inevitable.

Fox, who met Frank Rijkaard in Washington DC of all places :glugglug:

Lol, that's quite alright you hate Juve, that's what opposing fans do.
I picked Milan players, though, because they are good likeable players and when everybody asks me if I hate Milan, I tell them if they weren't running for Juve's championship I'd root for them every match.
Since I love Juve I don't consider them as the best of the best that's pissing on the rest, I don't like that arrogance and players I feel are arrogant I dislike (such as Ronaldo).
This "feel" I talk about is simply how I feel, you probably have a feel for some players and team, right? I'm not basing my dislikeness towards Ronaldo on some interview I read or anything, I just feel the arrogance coming off of him.

At first when I heard Buffon is out and you gave us Abbiati I was like wtf we're doomed! But Abbiati is REALLY coming through and he's an excellent keeper. I think you should sell him just so he'd be a starting keeper in a different team, he's to good to be on a bench.

At any rate, here's my dream team!
You might notice that I couldn't find alot of worthy right backs and maybe that reflects my discomfort about Juve's lack of right back (we have Kovac, Pessoto and Zebina but no one solid).
I also tried not to include Trezeguet and Ibrahimovic so I won't make it too much Juve.

Andriy Shevchenko
Thierry Henry
Kaka
Zinedine Zidane
Claude Makelele
Patrick Vieira
Paolo Maldini
John Terry
Lilian Thuram
Cafu
Gainluigi Buffon

Bench:
Goalkeeper: Jerzy Dudek.
Left Back: Roberto Carlos.
Center Backs: Alessandro Nesta and Fabio Cannavaro.
Right Back: None :(
Midfielders: Pavel Nedved, Steven Gerrard, Mark Van Bommel and Christiano Ronaldo.
Strikers: Adriano, Ibrahimovic and Raul.

What I have in mind is 2 strikers, 2 offensive midfielders on the wings, 2 defensive midfielders and 4 defenders. I have a whole strategy of how they will move on the field in my head but I'll spare you that.

P.S.
Yes, Dudek as a sub goalkeeper.
Yes, Raul, because of the bags of experience.
Yes, I can't think of a worthy RB.

One problem though, Ronaldinho stands behind the strikers and he isn't one himself. I'd make it more like:

................Emerson.................
.....Gerrard...............Nedved.....
...............Ronaldinho................

I feel sorry for Australia - instead of automatic qualification, they have to go through a play-off with the South American team that finishes fifth in their group - which could be either Uruguay, Colombia or Chile....

well is going to be Uruguay against Australia.

but for the next world cup (2010) they will run the competition against Asia. Yes Australia is going to be in the Asia groups to qualify.

im with u on this one.............eventhough they lost to england 2:1 im still rooting for my home country

haha! my roots trace back to poland... my deep roots, like before WW2 roots, but i hope they do good.

@joe swe.
exactly the point that the last world cup was 4 years ago.
look at any team, and they will not be the same. some got worse and some got better, but they all had to train hard, and it has paid off for Poland. Will they win, maybe when pigs fly, but they will surprsie a lot of people, and will be a force to face for a team that thinks they have an easy matchup against Poland

how does everyone thing england will fair?

Good question.....:dunno:

Being realistic, I'm well prepared for England to disappoint me next year.
Possibly Semis..........but if they play the same way as they did against Wales & Northern Ireland, they'll be lucky to make the Q/Final stages..

i believe england will do as they always do...

cruise along until they face their first test, and crack under pressure

I'd love to say England as they put in a good performance yesterday for a change beating Argentina 3-2.But with the squad Brazil have got they could most likely win it with there second 11.

I happy to see the good come back of Nicolas Anelka in french team

also greetings for Dhorasoo & Coupet

Sorry, if I repeat someone elses opinion, but I didn´t read all postings:

I think, that Germany has good chances to win the World Cup, although the results of them weren´t very good in the last weeks.
But Germany will play at home at the World Cup and we saw at the ConfeCup, that Germany has a whole country standing behind the team. And a young team is getting impressed of such an audience.
Germany is also a team which is good at that time, when it is important to win (like a WC). Remember the WC 2002.
You may not make the mistake to underrate the german team.
