Re: Good job England didn't play Ivory Coast yesterday

I don't agree that Argentina nearly cr***ed themselves. It should have been 3-1, that ball DID cross the line. Ivory coast played very well against world class opposition though. The only problem was their finishing. They made lots of chances at goal, but only managed to score one of them.

Let's face it, they just weren't good enough to beat a team of that calibre.

Right kib. The Coastians were real speedy, off and on the ball. The scorer of their side is a nice ball-player too. What they need is a little more experience to score from a half chance. THeir defence is good but each one of them go up and don't try to take advantage of the off-side rule.
But don't under-estimate Becks. He is different when playing for his country and one of the greatest game maker of the present. Did you see his crosses in the 1st half? Each one was sent with a address written over the ball.
Now awake to look at today's games.

I know. 1st half was brilliant, it was just the 2nd class mainly due to mental substitution from sven.

I think Ivory coast could have beaten them. They were the ones who kept charging forward especially when Ivory coast scored the goal

Charging forward doesn't win you games, it leaves big gaps at the back for the other team to exploit. Ivory Coast lost and rightly so in my book, they was second best in every area of the field and should have lost by more. It was poor finishing that made them only lose by the score line they did, oh and the ref:D

agreed on the ref and their poor finishing but Argentina was greatly outskilled in the midfield. Ivory Coast dominated all of the second half and the only reason they didn't win is lack of experience.

Speaking of Holland...

YAY! Arjen Robben was a genius. They were fantastic. They should have killed off the game, but they were thrilling to watch and I enjoyed the game more than any since the first one.

I love the way Van Basten has them playing. They've been my favourites and my tip to win it all for a few years now... and they backed up my belief in them today. Beautiful to watch.

Robben is the player of the tournament so far. I want him to run all over Argentina. I wish he would cut out the playacting, otherwise I think he might be the best player in the world. And those Chelsea bastards have him.

Fox

It seems you always seem to have been watching a different game to me and most of the people I know Fox. I could pick at just about every post you've made since the World Cup started. But what would be the point of that carrying arguements throughout this thread.

So all I will say is this, IMO Holland was lucky to have the win here. As in the second half the was certainly second best. A draw would have been fair here, but this is football and it's not always fair.

1-1 at the half for Mexico - Iran...
I was expecting Mexico to do what they are doing offensively...but is their defense that porous?
Iran is flitting into the box too easily...

The Satyr Icon

They lost. Yes their defence is that porus, because they aren't a good team really. Just so happens that Iran are worse. Saying that, Mexico will still qualify from that group, with Portugal, because Angola are poo.

So far in the Angola v Portugal match, Ronaldo has gotten a bit too cocky. Stepping on the ball, showboating when it isn't needed and getting himself a yellow card. He is a silly boy

But then that's the lovely thing about football. It's all a matter of opinion. You can post your views, I'll post mine. "Most of the people you know"? Well, tell them to come forward and post their opinions too, cause a lot of the people I know (and on this thread) seem to have similar views on the Trinidad, Ivory and so on... have you ever considered that maybe you just don't like me? ;)

If my posts incense you so much, don't read them. I love talking about the games, that's what this thread is for, even if I'm talking to myself sometimes :)

So... how about Rafa Benitez claiming compensation for Cisse, eh Poggy? Oh wait, I forgot, you did your nut about me mentioning Liverpool out of context last time. Gotta be careful not to piss you off. Note to self. Must not piss off Poggy.

To be honest Fox I stop reading yours and Calms posts when you both stated your supporting just about everyone in the competion. I can't understand people who support loads of teams and actually say their passionate about them. IMO you can only be passionate about one team and no more. A passionate fan can admit when their team plays very badly as England did yesterday. But also if your passionate about only one team, you can view the other matches with a complete unbiased opinion. This is something you can't do as your supporting just about every team in it.

I could go back through this thread and most likely pick out 8 teams you've said are going to win it. But what would the point be, because unlike you I'm not looking to argue right through threads.

Oh and isn't this a World Cup thread, so why meantion Liverpool:confused:

This is my :2 cents: and any reply you write will be ignored (so tip here, save your time and don't bother!).

I think it has been a good tournament so far. With the 2 best teams I have seen so far being Argentina and the Ivory Coast. The only game I have not enjoyed watching was the England game and I blame it all on Sven.

30 Mins til game time and I can't see it!

It's 30 mins now until Japan vs Australia, but I don't have cable and only certain games are shown on ESPN (an American Cable Sports Channel), I can't watch. I guess I have to call a friend and wake their ass up to go over and watch. Non-Americans are lucky, you guys probably get all the games on regular channels huh? Just wanted to gripe, and to the people about to watch, you better enjoy the game for me.

I'll go for Japan 2 Australia 1. So far the underdogs have had a very good day in this tournament. Will have to see though....

Which team is the underdog?
Both of the teams are pretty equal IMO; Japan has more experience, true, but so far Australia is playing better.
