Can't argue with that. For the past eight years we've definitley run shit into the ground

If you're that strongly anti-Europe maybe you should consider boycotting this website since its based in Europe.

Texas will not secede. The question is, will Washington D.C. leave the union? Socialism is not what the Constitution is based on. If this administration keeps trying to come up with more unconstitutional "change" then, as Reagan once said, "I didn't leave the Democrat party, the Democrat party left me" will Washington D.C. decide to leave us? So, Washington, if you're not going to use the Constitution anymore, we'll take it and just leave us alone.

I am not anti-europe, i just think that america is trying to beocme like europe with its socialist type of policies. be a leader not a follower

Texas will not secede. As much as many states would like to not have to obey every order from the Federal gov't (states' rights), no one wants to have another War of Northern Aggression either.

Actually, Texas has a unique situation in that when they joined the Union their right to return to Republic status was left intact...Texas could legally leave the Union, but there are treaties ceding vast territories to Native Americans that were supposed to be forever, and we all know how that turned out.
Texas has the least affected economy of all the US states, and we are just now beginning to feel some small job loss.
Houston is the 6th largest metro area in the US, and we all working down here.
Not as much, for some of us tied to a national corp, but Texas is where many smart Yankees moved years ago for the weather and lifestyle...and the money which goes much farther here and flows like the Rio Grande river.
We also got a tradition of big balls and fine women...comes in handy.

I hope so. Good riddance. One less red state to worry about.

As a proud and patriotic American and citizen of the great state of Texas, I take great offense to your ignorant and inflammatory comment. It's the diversity and difference of opinion (not to mention the right to express that opinion) that makes this nation the greatest on Earth. We in Texas are proud of our heritage as not only Texans, but as Americans as well. I guess that, in your vision of America, everyone would think like you do. God forbid we'd have any dissenting opinions here in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

The people is Texas might be extremely conservative ("red" as you call us) as a whole but we are the most helpful, friendly and considerate people on the face of the earth. Texans are genuine and honest....what you see is what you get!

Sorry to disappoint you but we're not going anywhere.

I suppose this is what we do every time we disagree with the federal government, threaten to secede. Maybe the people of Vermont should have considered secession when the federal government was deficit spending to erect a "democracy" in another country.

Get your facts straight BEFORE you insert your foot.... this is what happened...

Answering a question from The Associated Press at an anti-tax rally Wednesday, Perry said he doesn't think Texas should secede. But he said the federal government was thumbing its nose at the American people and added, "who knows what might come out of that."

Siighh, you asked for it..

Perry: "Texas is a unique place, when we came into the Union in 1845 one of the issues was that would would be able to leave if we decide to do that." He follows that up by saying, "If Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, who knows what may come of that"

Speaking of hoof in mouth, here it is from the horses mouth

Sounds like a threat to secede to me...

But if that ain't good enough, here is the exact same thing in any everyday example.

Your girlfriend reminds you that when the two of you got together, it was under the premise that she would be able to leave the relationship if she decide to. And if you keep fucking up, you never know what might happen.

Now I don't know about you but most people would assume she's threating to leave you if her conditions are met for your behavior.

But Perry's up for re-election...just wait until Texas voters come to realize that the most important thing from all of this secession talk is the Cowboys won't be able to play in the NFL anymore:rofl: we'll see how fast he Texas-Two Steps his way out of that one:rofl2:

Even though I'm not from Texas, nor have I ever been to Texas, I totally agree with your statement. I personally don't have any problems with Texas. A good Army buddy of mine was from Texas and he was one of the coolest guys I've ever known. I just don't know why they would try something like this, seeing as how we already had a civil war. I do agree, however, with the Texas governor's issue of the federal government having too much power and abusing it.

Don't forget about the crazy ass cartels over the border. I'm sure they would love to see Texas secede and pounce on the oppurtunity to have some uprotected gringo real estate. :ak47:

You mean along with all the other illegal people that jump the border every day? I don't see that being a problem, since they've been doing that for a long time.

This is an urban legends with no basis in fact. The Texas State Library & Archives Commission did some research and posted their results here:
