Actually, Texas has a unique situation in that when they joined the Union their right to return to Republic status was left intact...Texas could legally leave the Union, but there are treaties ceding vast territories to Native Americans that were supposed to be forever, and we all know how that turned out.

Hmmm......treaties ceding vast territories to Native Americans. Last time I checked, they were here first. If anyone has the right to not want Texas or any state here anymore, it's the Indians. The only reason why people, namely white people settled here is they killed or forced all the Indians out of the land that they rightfully owned and still own in my opinion.
