Why the fuck would you ever get married?

I almost wound up in court with my ex over who got to keep the cat that I adopted from a shelter (before I even met her!). So I'm not under any illusion that any man (not married to a crack ho or a heroin addict) is going to be getting primary custody of kids in the U.S. You'll get maybe a weekend/month, if she's in the mood to be at home when your weekend is due.

Well Rey sorry to dissapoint you, but my mom is not a 'crack ho or heroin addict' by any means and my little sisters are in their fathers custody, it was a judge in a California courthouse that decided that, the girls would be best with their dad, so now my MOM only gets summers. (but Sarah talks about runnin away from blah-land Connecticut to my moms in Cali all the time :p )

Please excuse the poor choice of words, HSS. But if you look over family court statistics, you'll find that it's very, very unusual for the father to get primary custody. But with every rule, there are always exceptions.

Again, my apologies if you were offended by that.

Lol not offended just wanted to throw it out there that not in every case, does the woman get custody.

I also know of a couple cases where the man didn't want custody.

No, to say that it happens in every case certainly overstates the facts. According to U.S. Census data, in contested custody cases, the mothers were granted primary custody 80% of the time. So, yes, there is that 20% of the time when the father is granted custody. The case you mentioned falls into that category.

And this:
Dianna Thompson, executive director of the American Coalition for Fathers and Children, insists the vast majority of divorces are initiated by women and cites a Stanford study of 1,000 divorced couples that found mothers were awarded sole custody four times as often as divorcing fathers in contested cases.

Social conditioning
Fear of loneliness
Financial stability
Sex..........................a few people are actually in love and want a family:yinyang:

im divorced was married for 5 years wouldnt take it back thank god no children from it but no hard feelings towards each other but like all things feelings change

So you can pay me and my fraternity of blood sucking lawyers.:D

Marriage is another one of those things that is amazing if done right, but tragic if done wrong, and unfortunately many, many people do it wrong. Wrong reasons, wrong person, wrong way. For me, nothing in my life has been as beneficial, joyful or wonderful as being married. I held off until I found exactly the right girl, we enjoyed a long time dating and had a long engagement, and have now been married for several amazing years. Honestly, I don't understand people who refuse to get married. It's like winning the fucking lottery every single day.
