As for Cricket, it's a game named after a bug
It has the same name as an insect, but its not named after it.
and just ask any American to read this. Really, some of words/terminology used in this sound like something a three year old would say.
Like what? I'll give you 'silly point', but otherwise :dunno:
And they dress like they are going out for a day of yachting, followed by a hockey game.
Like wearing whites? Or the coloured uniforms? Not really a dealbreaker :dunno:

I'm not sure how serious you were being, but those points seemed kinda bogus. Couldnt resist :helpme:
You could have just said it was boring
There are quite a few reasons I could think of. A couple seem to be based on ignorance, but mostly they are pretty understandable.
No need to elaborate, of course

NYC should be very happy because the Red Bulls already have JP Angel And they just signed Thierry Henry and now are close to finalizing a deal with Rafa Marquez, wow that is a damn good team.

Cricket takes like 5 days to play one game. Americans can't even sit though a MLB game and you want them to sit through that shit?

MLS won't be defined by one game. Yes, Man U easily defeated a team of MLS's best but a few days earlier they lost to a mediocre Kansas City Wizards. So please don't put too much stock into this one game.

No, but they have a form of Cricket now which takes about the same time to complete as a baseball game. Some people seem to think there is the 5-day version and nothing else :dunno:

The Wellington Phoenix beat Boca Juniors recently btw, haha.

Soccer still isn't going anywhere in America for this reason: People like me, who only watch soccer whenever the World Cup is on, are hated by actual soccer fans. They would rather have us not watch soccer at all rather than start watching soccer and rooting for the U.S. during the World Cup. It kills them to see people watching who don't normally. I have heard people say things to other people along the lines of "you don't even know the rules" and "if you don't know what's going on then don't watch." Ironically, diehard soccer fans here are actually hurting soccer's progress here in the U.S..

diehard soccer fans LOVE that you believe it hurts it's progress in america, no diehard football fan wants it to become popular there. the extreme commercialization would ruin the game more than it has been ruined already by america.

That is the dumbest comment I have ever seen on FreeOnes. What does that even have to do with anything? Van Damme is obviously the best thing in that chain and yet you have him third? You sir, have no hope.

They should make a new Double Team with Van Damme and Cookie Monster

the reason why soccer's more popular in undeveloped countries is that it's so easily played. think about it, football needs pads and goal posts, hockey needs pads, and sticks, and basketball needs nets. all you need to play soccer is a ball. if kids in undeveloped countries, like places in africa, south america, and asia, ever get leisure time, they problably pass the time playing soccer. those kids have incentive to make it big. that's why it's so common. (i took world cultures class in summer school)

doesn't explain countries like Spain, Germany, France and especially a country like Australia. All countries that can and always could afford things like pads, hockey sticks. (how exactly does basketball need nets? A ring sure) It's popular because people actually watch and understand the sport of soccer/football and then realize how awesome it is.

I have to disagree. The NFL is king in America and it has passed baseball as America's pastime. I did a research paper last semester on the success and popularity of the NFL. The NFL is by far the most successful sports league in the WORLD.

ok american talk like this pisses me off. Do your research again and you'd find that mainly americans watch nfl no matter how many think it's popular worldwide. The Champions League and the EPL are the most popular leagues in the world, you'll find virtually the whole of Nigeria stops to watch the big champions league games and that's not counting the other countries.

I never said that it was the most popular sports league in the world. It is however one of the if not the most financially successful sports leagues in the world. I did a research paper on this last semester so I did do my research.
