The Second-Hottest Man in my Mother's Basement
AKA Soccer is a poor mans game. Good point, I hadn't thought of that but it is so true.
Unless you make it big in Europe.

However, basketball is a poor mans game as well, easily on the level of soccer. A ball, a hoop (or even milk crate, lol) and you are set. Moreover, even baseball and football are "poor mans' sports" because technically, all they require is a ball (and in the case of the former, a bat) and a team. They're all poor mans' sports.
its boring as fuck, not enough scoring
I agree with your views on american sports.I don't understand this argument at all. Does a sport REALLY have to have endless scoring in it to hold the attention of some people? I like the fact that in football you have to, generally, unless you're playing England or Liverpool, work hard to score. It's a challenge.
Basketball irritates the fuck out of me. Up one end - SCORE! Up the other end -SCORE! Back again - SCORE! Oh, dude, you totally breathed on that guy's neck - FOUL! SCORE! Basketball is worse than rugby, and that's saying something.
I mean, there are plenty of reasons to hate football - many, many reasons. And I say that as a fan. But I just don't understand how this is one of them.
OK. There is SO much wrong with this post but it sums up the mindset of you lot & why, thankfully, football will never take off in the americaland.its boring as fuck, not enough scoring, too spread out and the players look like dots so you can see whats going on.
Thankfully indeed.thankfully, football will never take off in the americaland.
indeed thankfullyThankfully indeed.
I can't believe this is still going on.
Just like I said this issue is fuckin dead. Same old argument over and over and over and over. The only reason I'm still subscribed to this thread is because of how off track it gets sometimes. Then it gets interesting.
So in other words, I won?
:nanner:
Basketball is slightly different. Technically you can play it with a box on the ground, but that's a little weird. Not to mention that, in my history with balls (tee hee), I find that most do not bounce well on dirt or grass. To really play basketball, you at least need a solid floor, which sort of limits where you can play it to a gym or something.
Baseball you need gloves as well. Trying to catch a baseball without a glove hurts.
I'll give you the one that football is a poor man's sport. But maybe that why it is so popular in the US and Canada? That's our poor sport.
I hope that soccer takes off in America. The MLS is getting even better every year with more fanatical fans at the newer clubs. Don't forget the world cup USA '94 has the highest average attendence of any world cup. Plus im i right in thinking that it is one of the most popular sports amongst the youth of America. It will never rival the other big sports over there but i believe it can hold its own.
Still in relavance to the grand scheme even a glove is cheap. Hell you could make one if you really wanted to. Compared to hockey - the sticks that are now $250 and break like twigs, the icetime, the equipment - a baseball glove is nothing.
Plus I don't buy your argument about the basketball and 'bounce' because even in a dirt driveway in America kids shoot hoops.
It's huge among our youth, yes. People that say othewise are living in some backwoods trailer park somewhere. In the suburbs in particular it's popular.
BTW, the US is working on securing the 2018 WC right now.
