I was referring to what pro lacrosse players are making. They make next to nothing.

Yeah, I know. The first sentence in my rant there was about lacrosse.

I just felt like proving a point about soccer is all.

The 3 most popular sport in the US are Football, Baseball and Basket-Ball. All 3 have been created in the US. And, off-course, they are the best in these sports
Sports such as Soccer, Hand-ball, Rugby, etc are born in Europe.

Americans are too over-patriotic to care about a sport they dont have created and in wich they ain't the best.

Our women are the best female soccer team in the world so don't be so bold now.

And quite frankly I see it as a little kiddy and a girl sport. It's slow and boring to watch people kick a ball back and forth, running to chase it, and hoping I don't nod off while a goal is scored. Much less with a very weak check against game administrators and punishment for crookedness (which does exist in the game more than people like to admit) it's really hard to just pick-up and start taking the game seriously, investing money to it. With the growing Latin community in the US, the sport is growing but it will be quite some time before it becomes popular if it ever does; and if such happens we will end up dominating the sport for a few reasons that might be taken the wrong way so I'll just leave it at that.

Understand this. USA makes it to the knockout round even though we got screwed again!

"It's a new age for soccer in the States. Everyone is going to fall in love with the game and it is going to take its rightful place as one of the premier sports in America."

-And when the World Cup was here.

-and when the U.S. Women won it.

-and when Pele came to play in the U.S.

So......what.....you guys think I'm saying that soccer is suddenly going to be popular in the US because we made it to the next round? I'm pretty sure I wasn't saying anything near that. I couldn't care less. I'm just an American routing for the USA. Not a soccer fan in the least.

I think soccer would be more popular if the U.S. were to win a World Cup.

But that's still not what I was saying when I said the US was going to the next round.

And to be honest I don't think it will make much difference in the long run.

Is it too early to change the title of this thread to..

I Remember When Soccer Became Popular in America

Just askin'..

I would say that soccer is somewhat popular. I think a better word to use would be relevant. I think we're seeing now that soccer is relevant to people who don't follow the game much. I mean you turn on the TV and put on Sportscenter and they are leading with the U.S. soccer team or you turn to you're local news and the big story is U.S. soccer. I'm still young but could you have seen this maybe ten or twenty years ago? I'm not sure.

Of course the big news on Sportscenter is the US team. Americans love to follow their national teams. It was the same thing during the Olympics when the Americans made it to the gold medal game.

If you want people to enjoy soccer in America you need to start showing them games with EPL talent . Watching the MLS right now is like watching Class A baseball. The difference between the level of talent in the two leagues is staggering. It's not going to catch on here until we have a legitimate soccer league with big name players and teams that fans can attach themselves to. And since we can only bring over one big star at a time, that's never going to happen. Doing well in the World Cup is going to produce interest for six months, every four years. That's not how you start a footie revolution.

If we want to fight, we go next door and kick the shit out of our neighbor. We dont need to go to a stadium and pay to get into a fight with people we dont even know.
