I went out to eat with friends to an Italian restaurant and in the parking lot I we see these six guys get out of a Lincoln and they light up some cigarettes as they give us some cat calls. So now we're sitting at our table and in walk three of the guys that came in the same car with the other threee guys. They sit and after a few minutes , in walk the other three and proceed to the table where their friends are sitting. They all stand up and hug and ask each other how ya doing and so on and so forth pretending they haven't seen each other in a very long time and the whole time they are carrying on with a fake Jersey Italian accent. Then they start speaking in spanish using the same accent so they could get more attention.

Then one of them asks one of the other guys, "did you take care of that thing I asked you to do for me?" The one guy he was talking to replied, "oh yea that thing, forget about it, it's all taken care of."

They did this the whole time they were at the table and it was both funny and annoying.

Why do some guys act this way, wanting people to think they are mobsters???

That's funny. Maybe it impresses some girls but mobsters are a big turn off to me.

I agree with you 100%. I read your story and can 100& agree yet again.

Personally I have have NEVER understood why any alpha-male would think it is cool for people to think that you are a quit un-quote "made man" in a ridiculous tailored suite when you have money for so much better. But yeah, Mobsters and those particular New England territory accents. Sorry, just don't get it either. So enjoy some new rep for having to endure those assholes an they're ridiculous (fake as well) accents. :)

They think it'll impress you and hide the fact they've got thumbtacks for dicks:)

 There no doubt is your answer, babe. ;) After all, they don't call all of those "fat fucks" for nothing, especially because they probably haven't seen they're cocks in ages.

If you think that's funny, you should hear what they sound like when real Italians show up! After taking time out from their ritualistic watching of Goodfellas once a day, they practice they're accents in the mirror and finish the day using the accent to tell some fabricated story usually consisting of a fake macho encounter, or successful pick up lines used for a made up one night stand.

BTW: Whether you know it or not, YOU are the participant in the one night stand story.

Probably but at least I won't have to hear what disgsuting things I did. :)

While this is true, the typical pseudo-mobster believes his own hype. Because their inflated baloney lifestyle never truly pans out as their tales may dictate, hopefully you never run into them on different occassions. Sometimes they'll even loudly call you out when in front of other guidos. Then it their word against yours, and subsequent public embarrassment over his percieved lack of respect shown him.

Oh, it can get ugly with these faux-Italiano mob types.

No problem sweetie. :)

By the way: Is any other super-serious cinephile like me also never personally understood the appeal of such herald as seminal classics' movies such as GoodFellas, Casino, Coppola's Godfather trilogy, ect? Sorry I'ma serious colletor and film love here (as it is an artform reguardless or what anybody says), and I just never got they're appeal. Maybe it's my natural instinct (even from films) to run screaming away from alpha-male jack-offs. I just don't know; just know that I was never truely into them.

Guess to each they're own.

You know, I have never seen a single episode of the Sopranos. Anyway, you know what the coolest thing in the world is that people should try in their daily lives? People should just be themselves instead of trying to be someone else. This way you don't have to try so hard and you can act natural. Of course when you're out in public though you should act civilized if you're naturally a jackass.

Well put. :hatsoff:

One of them bought the other one some hair gel.

Why is "Jersey Shore" a popular TV show?

I think the answer to both is that dudes seem to think they're cooler if they act like total douche nozzles...

Unfortunately, a lot of people view being themselves as shallow and uninteresting. So instead of embracing their own quirks that make them who they are, they take the be somebody else route in hopes that this route leads to excitement and eventually the courage step out as themselves.

It really is a odd way to go about things IMO.
