This is really a GREAT question. I would even extend it to include not only pornstars but nude models in general (a much larger population) who are typically even more attractive than the average porn star.

I think it's prevalent for a number of reasons:

- First, mankind has always rewarded attractiveness and has always placed beautiful women on a pedestal (this is the foundation of answer to the question)
- Supply and demand: we guys simply can't get enough of hot-looking babes
- Women enjoy their nakedness almost as much as guys enjoy viewing it. I think they find it liberating (perhaps naturally exhibitionistic?)
- Fame... women love being the "center of attention" (ego, self-esteem)
- Lure of substantial income at very high rates per hour ("easy money" compared to regular 9 to 5)

I'm not sure choosing to do porn or not has anything to do with marriage or not. Not every girl that doesn't settle down goes into porn, some pornstars are married. Plus as a general rule, I don't think "get married and husband will support me" is an actual ambition held by any women with a grain of self-respect these days.

Well not necessarily because pornstars come in all different shapes, sizes, colors, age, etc. Not just beauty.
