Who's your favorie comedien?

Mine is Conan O'Brien going back to his Late Night days and even the old SNL skits you know he had to have had a hand in as a writer. I think I have the same type of sense of humor he does.

Anyways, one of his classic clips:

Favorite all time is Dave Chappelle but my other favs are

Chris Rock
Bill Burr
Lewis Black
Frank Caliendo
John Oliver

I don't know if I have a favorite of all time. IF I did, it would have to be Andrew Dice Clay... not because he was all that funny, but he was in my opinion the only comic to ever really captivate, and ultimately **** on society's standards of not only what comedians are supposed to be but how men are supposed to behave and was STILL able to become one of the biggest names in the business at the time.

But some of the comedians that I'll have eternal respect for are:
Bill Burr (not so much now that he got married)
George Carlin
Sam Kinison
Patrice O'Neal
Greg Giraldo (REALLY miss this guy)
Bill Hicks

Abbott & Costello
Marx Brothers
Smothers Brothers
Bill Hicks
Sam Kinison
Bill Cosby
Eddie Murphy (back when he was funny)
Rodney Dangerfield

Most have ******, but for me, Lewis Black is about the funniest. Mainly because he just seems to realize how stupid the government is, and joyously points it out. I also like Gabriel Iglaseas a lot. Very funny guy, that works pretty clean. I'm a bit surprised he hasn't had a sit-com yet.

Richard Pryor
Jonathan Winters
Patrice Neal
Bernie Mac
Lewis Black
Bill Cosby
Chris Rock
Gabriel Iglesias
Margaret Cho

Nice list but how can you admire Jonathan Winters and not the similar improvisational genius of Robin Williams? Just askin'....:dunno:

Richard Pryor
Woody Allen
Jerry Lewis
Groucho Marx
Trevor Noah
Wayne Brady
Godfrey C. Danchimah, Jr.
Steve Harvey
Bill Cosby
Jay Leno

It's not that I dislike Robin Williams, far from it. It's just that Jonathan was the first that I remember that had that comedic device. I also like Red Skelton, Milton Beryle as well. I just didn't place them in. I noticed that you didn't have Winters on your list. Why? Just askin'.... ;)

Billy Connelly
John Cleese
Rowan Atkinson

For every one you add to the list 2 get left off. Is it the jokes they write or how they deliver it? Movie comedy vs standup. Are they only funny when being topical? Your list is a direct reflection of what you think is funny and not necessarily who is delivering it. Do you know who the perfect comedian is? Bugs Bunny. Put him anywhere in the world in any time period, instant laughs.

Robin Williams was much better in movies than standup. Much of his improv was taken out of his bag of improv that he used over and over again. Much like Don Rickles and his instant insults. Jonathan Winters was amusing at best. Very intelligent and quick but never got a belly laugh out of me. Groucho in his You Bet Your Life days stands head and shoulders over Winters and Williams. Interviews with random people he had never met. For 11 years Groucho was viewed by 30-45% of all Americans each week plus it was simulcast on radio for which there are no ratings numbers. He did the show for 3 years on radio before moving to TV also.
