Who will win the Euro 2004 ?

I think it's hard to say. There are a lot of good teams out there this time.

Who I Want: England, Holland.
Who Will: France (God, that hurts to say that.....)

I would have to agree with the Czech's being a dark horse chance in winning. Anything better than the French winning, IMHO

england of course:D fuck france:tongue:
c,mon england, england will win 2004
fuck the rest hahahaha :thefinger

Banana Joe its a football thing so shut the fuck up

So long as Terry and Campbell stay fit, we (England) have as good a chance as anybody. In fact, I'll be pissed off if we don't at least make the semi-finals. I don't fear any team and that includes France.

With being English i'm going to say England especially if Lampard, defoe and Beckham are on top form but to be honest with you i think we needed Shearer, due to his power and aerial ability which Rooney lacks due to his age. I'm going to say England anyway but i think Czech republic or France if not us, if you have'nt seen the czechs play yet you'd be suprised at how far they have come along.

"how far they have come along", what you mean since they got to the final in YOUR country in 96???

Anyone who isn't aware of how strong the Czech's are, especially in midfield, are just ignorant fools who know nothing about world football. (which i know was the point you were getting at)

Its a shame for the Czech's that they are likely to come up against the eventual winners in the QF's. The draw is lop-sided and is and France have a virtual bye to the Semis.

As far as the contenders go,

Italy - are strong in goal, at the back and loaded upfront. As long as they stay clear of injuries and suspensions to the midfield, they are almost certain finalists.

France - Maybe on paper they have the best squad, but might falter due to loyalties to players who are not half of their "replacements".

Holland - now that they have given their youth a chance to play, like Van der vaart, they should have a fair chance, but are likely to face a tricky and stubborn QF, followed by the French in the Semis. I don't think they can beat France and then Italy in succession, which is why I don't see them winning.

Czech.Rep - lets put it this way, if they win their QF, they will go to the final, but i think they will just fall short in the QF.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The other sides are pretenders,
Spain - Always have good players, but never have backbone, now that they have a Valencia core, maybe that will change, Raul has had an astonishingly poor season by his very high standards and that must be a worry for them.

Portugal - Anyone who has seen them play for the past 2 years in preparation for this tournament knows that even playing at home is unlikely to do much for them. Players like Figo and Rui Costa are not as dominating as they once were, they still don't have a World Class no 9. People may think that because Porto have done so well in Europe the past 2 years, that Portugal must be real strong............think again, Porto's most influential players are not Portugal's most influential...so there is no link really.

Vitor Baia does not play for the national team, Jorge Andrade and Couto are not at Porto, neither is Figo, Rui Costa or Pauleta.

If anyone tells you that Porto's success will be translated by Portugal, tell them to shut the fuck up and get a clue.

England - have a chance to make the semis cos they are just as likely to beat Portugal or Spain, as they are to be beaten by them. Its unlikely though that a side that still has a shaky keeper, still has problems down the left, have an attacking midfielder that hasn't scored for 3 years, and have a buffoon playing upfront with Owen......will win the competition. Without wishing to sound too dramatic, i would gladly wager my life that England will not win this tournament.

Its also worth remembering that England have only ever made it out of a Euro group stage once, in 96, in England......when they probably should have but didn't win the tournament.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Teams that are not talked about too much, but are always solid at the back, and have either pace and/or quality going forward are Sweden and Denmark.

Swedes must be delighted to see Larsson linking up with Zlatan.

Italy are usually slow starters, but they will have to be ready from the start with those 2 teams in their group.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry to Russia, Greece, Croatia, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Latvia and Germany......but you guys have NO CHANCE to win the competition........ok, ok you have a chance in the sense that you are in the tournament, but it would be the biggest shock of all time if any of these sides won it all, yes, even the Germans who can usually come to a tournament off form and still make a WC final like they did in 2002.....but their luck has to run out at some point, and as any German will tell you, their current side is an embarrasment to their proud footballing history.

I think that France and Italy will play the Final yet again. Portugal has a chance, they have some good players and play at home. Spain has some good players, but they always seem to fail at the big stage. Which is a pitty, as I really like Valeron, Baraja and Vicente.

May I register my own personal sense of outrage and disgust over the television coverage Euro2004 is receiving in the USA? A single, not one, is being broadcast in the USA. If you want to see a game you have to spend a few hundred dollars, and have a satellite, to see the games. I remember reading this article during the last Olympics which stated that the most watched event in the world is World Cup. The second......one would think it would be the Olympics but no its the Eurocup..........then the Olympics. The networks aren't broacasting a single game of the second most watched event in the world. Morons!!!!!!!! I am forced to read about the games and see highlights on the web which is about the same as seeing the game. Not! I think I have vented enough. Thank you for enduring.

This post may come back to haunt you ;)

What i ment by How far the Czechs have come along is that they have improved since they where in the final in our country as in they have become a more solid team and even have a new strike force that if they peform are capable of getting through any defence. Too bad about you not getting much coverage in USA but dont you have your own tournemant for the north and south America contenant?.
