Who is the best superhero?

Firestorm -The Nuclear Man. I mean c'mon the guy can create almost any element (including kryptonite) out of thin air.

Also always thought Iron Man was awesome as he didnt have any powers except the armor. Dont appreciate the fact that they've made Tony stark such a dick lately. Could a villan turn be coming...?

A lot of you are probably gonna disagree with me, but I say Captain America.
On one hand he is a symbol and a leader.
On the other hand he is a tortured soul.
My advice is to read the Winter Soldier storyline.
It definetly sheds a new light on Cap's former, sidekick, Bucky Barnes.

None remember Ironman?? Sigh :(

Captain America for me really like the stuff based durring World War 2 and even the modern stuff with the Avengers or the Ultimates. Just like the character as a whole and he doesn't have any wild superpowers just things that are pretty believeable thanks to the super soldier serum.

Ironman was a scientist who build this power armor. So he had enormous strenght, he could fly and he had some ray from hands... I cannot remember other. Oh! The armour was rad and yellow. :D

However he was a normal person without armour.... exept for his brain.

not actually true, Tony Stark was sent to Vietnam to supervise a field test for one of his tranistorized weapons. While he was there Stark triped on a booby trap and a piece of shrapnel was lodged in his chest he was then given access to a lab where he built the Ironman suit the armor containes a pacemaker like device which enables Stark's heart to keep beating after the shrapnel entered it.

the tv show?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

you are right, most of us will disagree with you. first of all, he is not a superhero. juggernaut is more of a superhero than the dude you like. i dont even remember the name.

Stupid TV show trying to capatalize on the popularity of the superhero boom of the day. The reason that he couldn't control the suit was he lost the instructions. I remember the show and got a good laugh out of it in those days but now I'm sure it is quite lame. However to each his own. When I think superhero I tend to put the mutants in another category since they were born that way and didn't have some sort of special circumstances that made them who they are. That being said Superman I think would be my favorite. And for those of you who were still debating. The yellow sun gives Kalel his powers. If the Kryptonians had those powers don't you think that Jorel and his wife would have left Krypton with their son under their own power. Even in the new movie Kalel had to come back to earth in a ship because he was too far away from the yellow sun of the earth. My second favorite would probably be the Hulk. I know it's like a jeckle and hyde thing but the fact that Banners rage makes him into another creature is just awesome!

Why does the fact that he was clumsy, a little silly and "lost his instruction manual" deny him the classification of "Superhero"? It doesn't matter if you were born with special abillities, draw super powers from the sun, utilize technology or wear a super suit, it is a persons actions and beliefs that make them a superhero. There are some firemen and policemen I remember from back in September, 2001 that are more deserving of the classification Superhero than anyone else mentioned in this topic.

You may disagree with my opinion that "The Greatest American Hero" is a superhero, but my opinion has just as much relevance in this topic as yours.

I must agree with you about the first responders on 9/11, they selflessly gave their lives to help others in the face of danger. However I never said that the GAH was not a superhero. I just stated that I didn't care for the concept of the show and to each his own. Which I thought was respecting your opinion but stating my position as well. It was not my intention to offend you, however if I did I apologize. I hope there will be no hard feelings in the future.

He's all human - no super power stuff. He's got his demons too, his charecter flaws and stuff.

That, and the general somewhat 'anti-hero' nature of his charecter and the dark, foreboding locale :)
I don't know about y'all, but Batman is a very believable hero

So is The Punisher.

I think some of the best heroes are those that we classify as "anti-heroes". Those who get caught up for one reason or another. Those who walk that fine line between justice and crime with a dark past. My top 10 (have a lot of free time today):

1.Batman...No powers. Basically it all started from revenge (The murder of his parents). The most feared man in the DC universe. Entrusted by Superman to be the one to put him down if he ever goes rogue.
2.Spawn...Received his powers from hell and is basically caught in the war between heaven and hell. Kicks alot of demon a** and he just doesn't give a s**t. Uses his powers or guns as he was a commando in life.
3.Daredevil..No powers.. Blind, with heightened senses. Been know to go a little too far.
4.Ghost Rider...Received his powers from Hell and now fights for redemption.
5.Spiderman.....Border-line anti-hero...Gifted but flawed with tremedous person problems. Does it out of sense of responsiblity
6. Cyclops...Mutant outlaw with woman problems (too many different ones), and cool red glasses. One of the 12 most powerful mutants.
7.Wolverine...Mutant who Kicks a** and always goes too far.......
8. Catwoman....Yes Catwoman. Was a member of the JLA on Batman's (just one of his many girls)request. True "anti-hero". Save the poor and rob from the rich. Dark past, plus one of the sexiest (drawn that way) characters in comics.
9. WonderWoman...Recently became a "anti-hero" after showing a "whatever" it takes attitude recently and killing a major DC villian. A Top 5 character in total strength in DC Universe, plus she is always drawn with a nice rack.....
10. Deadpool...Anti-hero..Bad-a** mercenary. Cross between Wolverine and Spiderman. Only power is healing factor like Wolverine.

Honorable Mention: Moonknight (marvel's version of Batman, not as cool, but he goes too far)
The Huntress (one of Batman's girls. Sexy, violent and she always goes too far). Green Lantern, Hal Jordan (was good, turned bad, but saved the world and is good again, plus he kicked Superman's ass). Emma Frost, The White Queen (Former villian now an XMEN. Likes to F**k with men's minds. One of the sexiest outfits in comics. Recently seen in Cyclops' bed)
