Which motion controlled console catches your eye?

I'm going with Kinect for sheer boldness. There is a chance Microsoft could hit it big, if they do it right, and it has implications the gaming industry has never seen before. Move to me is really just a port of an existing product, so as great as it could be, it's going to be limited in what it can do.

Gotta be honest with you shayd,I feel the same way about Kinect as far as pure game play goes,but make no mistake,I'm not a fan of the Move either.

Nintendo has historically been working on some form of motion control since roughly the era of the failure that was the Virtual Boy, which make just about everything else a copy of that. More power to the companies for trying it, but I've got to give the edge to Kinect in that it's fundamentally different than the others so far.

Honestly, if you find that to be any sort of workout or really any sort of meaningful exertion, your concept of exercise is severely twisted.

I'm going with the Kinect because I see it as having the most potential. The "Milo" tech demo showcases some of this (though Peter Moyneux is notorious for overhyping things).

Unfortunately, I fear the reality is that few developers will really put forth the effort to make many decent games for either the Kinect or the Move, and I just have a really hard time imagining either having a "killer app".

I never said it was. It was a well known "secret" circa the Virtual Boy era that Nintendo was working on a form of supplemented input, which was the impetus that drove what we now know as the Wii. It's disingenuous to give any other company credit for the rise of motion controls, mostly because Nintendo had the original concept. Everyone else at this point is just porting the same product, even Kinect, however Kinect seems to have the advantage in that it aims to build on an existing product. I mean, how the fuck can anyone make the claim that Move isn't a blatant rip-off of the Wii? I mean, is there a single thing it does that the Wii doesn't? No. The only real difference is in button layout and aesthetics.

If it walks, looks, and smells like a duck, it's probably a duck.

Well of course they fucking didn't, just the same that Henry Ford wasn't trying to invent the fucking Mustang in 1908. Just the same that Bill Gates wasn't trying to write Windows 7 in 1975. See a pattern there? It's theconcept that directly lead to it's invention as is the case with the Wii. Plain and simple, Nintendo had the idea first. Argue semantics all you want, the fact remains.

It has voice recognition, unlike the Wii. It'll pick up movement without a control to reference unlike the Wii. You are seriously going to sit here and tell me you don't see how Kinect is substantially different from the others?

To be quite honest, I forgot all about the EyeToy. The problem remains however, there is the EyeToy and then the Move controller. Without one, you can't enjoy the benefit of the other.

Of course it's software based, which is why the fact that EyeToy has been out for years and still doesn't do it competently makes Kinect look better. I'm not saying it is better, but for my money, at this stage, why would you not put your faith in a consolidated peripheral? I'm not arguing that voice recognition is new in the technological world, but in the current video game landscape, this is new in that the ability is bundled up in a single peripheral.

The ability is bundled up in a single peripheral. It takes one piece of equipment for Kinect to function. You don't have to have a camera, and a motion controller available contemporaneously. This is not the case for either of the two.

Uh, what? We're supposed to judge how good it is by the games that are out, before the fucking thing launches? At this point the only thing we have to judge these peripherals on is what they offer in what package.
