Which games console?

I love my 360! It has a excellent selection of games and worth the money. Microsoft has addressed the whole red ring of death issue and fixes it first time it goes out; if you bought it before a certain time it is actually a three year warranty since those particular ones were the ones breaking down the most.

As for games there is a lot to offer.

The PS3 is not on my list ot get anytime soon. The only games I want on the PS3 is Metal Gear Solid 4, but I find it not worth the price just for one game at the moment.

Meh, I enjoy the 360, it has awesome selection of games and overall a decent investment.

The Wii I plan on getting some time before the year is up, I think I might wait for those Resident Evil games to come out and see how they do. Apparently Resident Evil 2 and another one is being brought to the Wii, so I am looking forward to see how those do.

^Plus, you can't get Dead Rising on PS3. Or Crackdown.

Crackdown is like game porn, a constantly fun-ejaculating videogame experience.

(It's the 360's best-kept secret).

I liked Crackdown too. The next one ought to be pretty damn good too.

Looking at this from a neutral point of view at the moment they machines are pretty equally matched when you look at games released on both platforms eg GTA IV. In terms of graphics sound etc they are very similar. The question arises is what exactly do you want to do with it. Watching Blue ray movies for instance the PS3 is ready to go out of the box, whereas the Xbox will need the addition of an extra drive. Streaming media, both will do equally good job of this, so not much to choose here. The other distinguishing factor will be price, do you want it as purely a console, or to do other stuff such as streaming movies etc? If you want just a gaming console Xbox is far cheaper option. Online gaming also with Xbox is a paid for service but more mature than Sonys, which is free at the moment, but may not remain so. Also there are usually a handful of titles exclusively available for one or the other, eg Gran Turismo (PS) and Halo (Xbox), so if you want to play these then you may have to chose one or the other.

Lastly and this is a consideration is the looks of the consoles, Sonys offering looks far sexier than Xbox or Wii with its black gloss finish, more in line with modern home entertainment appliances perhaps?

If you want a more general entertainment system go for Sony PS3, which will cost you more, if youre after more of a gaming rig perhaps go for Xbox. I know this is a simplistic way of deciding but cant think of simpler way to compare the consoles for casual buyers looking to buy one.

If you have a HD tv then get a PS3 I love mine but second to that is the 360 it has great games! Good Luck

As an owner of all 3 consoles, I'll chime in with my :2 cents:

360:
PROS:Best online system & community (the small fee is worth it).
Best selection of games (though there aren't too many exclusives anymore)
CONS:If RROD is still happening in newer consoles(I'm not sure on that), then thats the only real con, but it's a major one if it still is prevalent.

PS3:
PROS: Blu-Ray player.
Free online play.
No major console quality issues.
It's the most powerful system, which has not showed in most games so far, but it could be a factor down the road.
CONS:Weaker list of exclusive games.
Online system is not as good as 360 Live.

Wii:
PROS: Innovative controller can add a lot of fun, and you can get some excersize, too.
Some good first-party exclusive games.
CONS: By far the least powerful system, which shows with the graphics.
Controller can lose it's novelty quickly.
Online system is horrible, light years behind the other 2.

PS3:
CONS:Weaker list of exclusive games. I Hate how everyone says this yes the 360 originally had alot more exclusives I well admit that, but to say that the ps3 has a weaker set of exclusives is just a stupid statement. Please tell me how 360 exclusives are better then the ps3 exclusives.

I've had my 360 since November '06 and it's never let me down. Xbox live is great for playing with and keeping in touch with lots of your friends... think of it as 70 bucks a year for unlimited long distance calling.

I love my 360. I got a fine used/like new Elite one this year off eBay for not that much asking price, with free shipping & handling. So I'm a happy lad. :D

Dude, chill out, there's no need for insults. This is just my opinion; I'm not trying to say that it is a fact that only someone "stupid" would disagree with. If you like the PS3 exclusives more, that's your opinion, which I wouldn't attack you for.

Anyways, as I stated there aren't too many exclusive games anymore, so it basically comes down to a small handful of games between the two.

360 has the GOW & Halo franchises of course. Though I'm personally not a HUGE fan of either, these games are widely considered to be killer apps/system sellers. There a few other exclusives like Mass Effect, Left 4 Dead, and Fable 2 that are generally considered to be great games, but are not system sellers.

On the PS3 side, there's MGS4, which I believe is their top exclusive, and I would call it a killer app/system seller. There's also Killzone and Uncharted, which are about on the same level of popularity and critical acclaim as Mass Effect and Left 4 Dead.

Overall, I give a slight edge to the 360. My opinion. The only FACT I can put out there is that no PS3 game can match the sales figures Halo has. It's just one game, but one game can have a huge impact.

Personally, I would choose the 360 because there are more games that I like, but it can have hardware failure sometimes.

But if you want more casual, social or party games then you would want a Wii.

I dont have much experience with PS3's, it comes with a blue-ray drive so you can watch movies in hd, but lately some developers have had problems trying to make games on that console.

I'm still using the previous generation of consoles because I've been a Nintendo loyalist that's hesitant to get a Wii. I almost always play alone and don't like things to be too physical. I'd rather sit on my ass with a controller than get up and jump around like a clown.

I have both, and I enjoy the PS3 more.
Many people would prefer the 360. I think the main reason so many people like the 360 is that it came out earlier, and therefore had time to release more games. But, now that PS3 has been out for a while, it has had time to release some amazing games. Metal Gear Solid 4, inFamous, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 1 and 2, etc.
Another reason people think 360 is better is because they think it's cheaper. From my research, 80gb PS3s and 360s are roughly the same price. Plus, PS3 has an internet browser (youtube works), free online, and a built-in Blu-Ray player (which normally go for about $350)
In 5 years, with the price of the console and the online, 80Gb 360 will cost you about $750 (not including games, controllers, and batteries), and 80Gb PS3 will cost you $400 (again, not with games, controllers, etc.).
Other things that make the PS3 a better pick include: rechargeable controllers, better CPU, and the odds of the system getting yellow light of death (PS3 version of red ring of death).
So I'd pick PS3, because it's much cheaper, has larger capacity discs (that for some reason go for the same price as Xbox CD-Roms.), no batteries so its better for the environment ( =] ) and simply because I'd rather play Resistance than Halo 3 any day!

Before I start, I think your opinion is valid, here are some things I would like to point out.

I just got a 360 for my nephew (with his parents pitching in too), and got a 100 GB HD from NewEgg for a grand total of $325. The price between the two recently has made the PS3 look worse and worse (they're about 5 months late to the party in terms of price dropping).

The CPU is an issue that's been beat to death on here, but I'll just say that the processor has the potential to be better, because right now it's not, and developers are just now starting to get a grasp of how to program for it.

Not really all that important, but just for the sake of clarity, the 360 runs it's games off of DVD's not CDs, but that's a minor issue :)

Saffron, we have all 3 major... Wi for the wee kiddos and the 'exercise' games... not much of a work out to be honest but better than nothing.
PS3 has the built in blue ray so it's on the big tv in the rec room... but the online games are less reliable, in part because it's free, so there's no expectation of quality.
we have several Xbox 360's... my sons have them at my home and at their mothers, and i have a unit... i like playing even though they run circles around me... on the fps (first person shooters) they'll dance and jump circles as i try to shoot them and will stab me, then escape laughing... i can't quite get 'unlocked' from trying to treat it like real life wherein shooting while jumping is useless except to keep the bad guy's head down.
if you want online content to hang with other gamers, my prayers have been answered. seriously, you'll create MAJOR wake just by putting a feminine voice on the chat line... it's amusing watching guys try to preen and show off when a girl or woman is playing. and i think the greater certainty of being able to play online is worth the $50 a year... less if you watch for eBay or Buy.com sales.

in any case, let your fans here know when you've got your gamer tag... would be a blast playing with you.
