Communist or socialist? Not really. He does have some tendencies, particularly in the redistribution part of it. I doubt a candidate who's openly socialist or communist would get elected here in the U.S. I mean, we do have a communist party USA, don't we? How do they do in the elections? Do they even bother putting up a candidate? At the most, I do consider him to be far left or firmly planted in the left of center, just as I am firmly planted in right of center. I mean, Bill Clinton would be an example of someone who is left of center. The difference between Obama and Clinton, and maybe the problem with Obama not that he's a communist or socialist, but that he's an ideologue. When the Republicans took over congress in the 90's, Clinton had to sort of put aside his political ideology and move towards the center in order to actually accomplish some stuff. Obama just won't do that. He will not put aside his ideology even if it takes us to higher unemployment, higher gas prices, higher inflation, higher deficits, etc.
I mean, look at the people who shaped Obama's ideology: Saul Alinsky, Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers. They may not be socialists or communists but sure are virulent anti-americans.

Dude is straight left of center. I felt good about voting for him in 08 but now IDK,he has caved so much on many issues its ridiculous. The health care bill so example, once the public optiion was taken off the table he should have just let it die, now he's stuck with OBAMACARE. Even as a liberal it makes me cringe when I say it. I give the republicans credit tho they know how to play the game and if you are a pussy like Obama has been you get straight fucked, cause even though they approved it ol' Barack got stuck with the bill. He's a cool guy but hes getting my vote by default

The trouble with this approach, georges, is that folk such as yourself talk about Obama the Socialist, and then, in the same breath, mention how he's making the fat-cats of Wall Street rich.
See the trouble with that? The guy you call Socialist is making those in the private sector rich. You can't have it both ways.

judging Obama is tricky, you have got to leave the pre-conceived notions behind and judge his record. Which is very difficult without pissing off his worshippers. For example he had UBL er OBL whatever killed... my hats off.. good job Mr President, but the info we received to complete that mission was obtained by the means and methods he campained against(waterboard,guantanimo, etc). Then the big one is socialized medicine, most people do not want it. But he pushed it through anyway, thats about all he's done other than spend more faster than every other president since, the beginning.. that puts him well left of center in my book
