Where are we heading?

i been looking at a college history textbook , and in each of the chapters are divided into from one period after another; Enlightenment, Revolutions, Industrialization, World Wars and Cold War. Anyways it got me thinking about a general history textbooks in future, where I have a glimpse of a period that hasn't happen yet or revealed itself in it's entirety yet.

This is what the index of the textbook would look like

1. End of the Cold War, Fall of the Berlin Wall, Break up of the Soviet Union, Gulf War 1989-1991
2. Globalization, Humanitarian intervention: Somalia, Break up of Yugoslavia 1991-1998
3. Rise of Al Qaeda and War on Terror, Iraq Freedom 1998- 2011
4. Old enemies renewed; Russia Revanchism, Arab Spring and the rise of new New Caliphates 2011-....
6..................................................................................................

What do you think is in store for us next? 2016-2024, and what would it be called?

Some Ideas

Cyber warfare
iran
China
Russia
North Korea
Venezuela
Non-state actor, terrorist group

China.

We owe them a shit load of money thanks to Clinton letting them into WTO where they cheat on economic issues, W borrowing from them to finance the war on terror, and Obama borrowing money during the Great Recession with all the debt ceiling cap hikes because our corporation don't want to pay their fair share in taxes (off shore tax shelters) expecting the middle class to support all government funding.

How can one can study Hidtory in college -no elementary school, junior high school or high school- with a textebook that only focuses on US Hisory ?!
How can a student can pretend to have studied History without having studied Ancient Egypt, Ancien Greece, Rome, Middle Ages, The Renaissance or the age of Absolutism and it's decline with the Enlish Civil War and the French Revolution ?!

I mean, even from an American perspective, to fully understand what drove the Founding Father when they wrote the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights was their knowledge of european History and they tried to make it impossible for the US to make the same mistakes that european states had made over History. And to form their political minds, they've studied the great thinkers of Ancient Greece & Rome such as Plato, Herodote, Socrates, Plutarch, Cicero, Tacitus, etc...

Anyway, to answer the question, I don't think we will be seing any state vs state war, I think many western countries will have to faith high tensions, maybe even civil war/government overthrows between conservatives and progressives.

Massive solar flare wipes out North America’s power grid.

Our electric power grid is extremely old and extremely susceptible to not only the threat of solar flares, but also from EMP attacks that could shut down our power supply for years. Eventually we are going to take one of these solar flares head on, and when that happens, this country is going to be in for a major shock. Our nation’s power grid is not setup to withstand one of these events, and thanks to outsourcing, we no longer have the capability to build or repair our largest transformers should they be hit.

Note: A solar coronal mass ejection hit Earth in 1859 and induced one of the largest geomagnetic storms on record. The only thing effected in 1859 was the telegraph lines. However, studies have shown that a solar storm of this magnitude occurring today would likely cause widespread problems for modern civilization. There is an estimated 12% chance of a similar event occurring between 2014 and 2022.

The usual, history repeating itself. Currency wars, trade wars, world war. I see a mass global economic meltdown at some point which will lead to another world war to cover it up.

Nothing will stop me from getting my Breakfast Burrito from Jack In The Box tomorrow morning on the corner of Santa Monica and Veteran.

Great now that you said that the sun is going to explode before morning, just like washing your car causes it to rain. Think Dino think!

China isn't exactly debt free, as a matter of fact their national debt has skyrocketed in the last few years.

In the period of 2016-2024: People getting more easily offended/getting defensive, people becoming more politically correct, people using "Muslim" and "terrorist" interchangeably (god forbid), etc. Nothing huge.

In about 5000 years: US, Iraq, Iran, and Israel shaking hands as Russia is still jerking off UN and NATO. Oh, yes, folks, there will still be divisions known as nations, ... with their borders ... you know ... to control people. By that time there will be an actual division of US into the Northern States and Southern States, where in the latter execution of retarded people, the church (think Westboro Baptist), etc. will prevail and most of their denizens will go: "Fuck this! Let's go north!"

Heavy stuff man. Like a nuclear miscalculation involving the White House and the Kremlin over Ukraine or some other country due to some technological issue. I can already see Dino roaming about and rummaging for fast food meals after the fallout with the music playing in the background.

George Washington in his farewell address on political parties:

"They serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation, the will of a party, often a small but artful and enterprising minority of the community; and, according to the alternate triumphs of different parties, to make the public administration the mirror of the ill-concerted and incongruous projects of faction, rather than the organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by common counsels, and modified by mutual interests."
