I'm a fan of the Baltimore Orioles and have been since I can remember. The Birds won their last World Series in 1983, two years before I was born. They've had two winning seasons in my lifetime--and I'm not talking pennant winning seasons or WS winning seasons--I'm talking seasons where they've won more games than they lost. This past season was the 11th in a row that we've finished under .500. When is enough? Never. I bleed orange, I love the O's, and nothing will ever change that.

I was a fan of the Montreal Expos. We havent won anything in our 30 or so years in the MLB but i was a die-hard fan.

At least, our Montreal Canadiens have been the 2nd most franchise in all professional sports the most decorated in th 20th century (24 Stanley Cups, only 1 less than the 25 NY Yankees who won their 25th the year 2000 otherwise it would have been a tie!).

Montreal Canadiens havent won since 1993 - so 15 years without being champions. And im still 100% behind them.

So, in short, my answer is never!

Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
The Lions have not won a CHAMPIONSHIP since 1955. They won a playoff game in 1991 against the Dallas Cowboys and made it to the NFC championship...then they went on to get smoked by the washington redskins, the game was close at half and then the lions forgot they played two halves.

That is their one playoff victory since the AFL/NFL merger.:o

Your right Chrism, I am mistaken 1991 was the last playoff win! but thats still 17 years ago!

I guess most of you can tolerate mediocre teams or support an owner who doesn't make an effort too win?? I honestly :dunno: about all the other cities teams and the lengths of there current droughts of not winning a championship!!

Maybe if you knew W.C. Ford Sr. and the way the lions are run, then maybe you'd understand my abandoning this team? if you don't find my reasons sufficient, I guess all of you and I will have too agree too disagree on what a commitment too winning is to a fan base! the lions do everything cheap.. they are just sorry, and I am sorry I can't, won't, and don't tolerate the way the detroit lions franchise is run or the way it has performed for far too many years..

local news and sports talk radio always ask why we (the fans) tolerate and put up with this garbage?? the experts who analyze the NFL and the teams are stunned that the fans in detroit put up with and support its losing team, they ask why the ford family doesn't sell the team if they don't or won't make an effort too win?? why should I be a supporter of a team that the owner doesn't even care??  :hatsoff:

Never, unless your favorite crappy team is losing on purpose so they can move to LA, then it should be acceptable to hate a former beloved team. :cough: 49ers :cough: Fuck the York family.

A true fan never quits!

Ok It finally dawned on me that I don't really care about the NFL so why am I even trying to justify my feelings about the detroit lions franchise!! :rofl2:

I've honestly never liked the Detroit Lions, I enjoy COLLEGE FOOTBALL way more than the NFL.. I sincerely could careless who wins the superbowl!! :hatsoff:

Marlo...why would the ford's improve their product if they constantly sell out games. If i put out a crappy product and people keep buying and buying why would i take my valuable time to improve that product? It's obviously good enough if people keep buying.

As a sports fan following your favorite teams for much of your lives through the good and the bad when does losing so much ex.Detroit Lions, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns. When do you choose to abandon the team you have followed much of your life, your hometown team?

Meet the woman of your dreams . . start a real career . . get married . . etc. . . and I guarantee that it won't be that important. No effort required ! You just sort of slip away from the trivialities of life. IMO :2 cents:

Oh, you asked a question :o

Remain loyal because it's much like the stock market . . dump a stock or stocks and a month (or three) later, that stock, or team, as it were, becomes a winner. Murphs Law always rips me up.

Here's some encouragement -
Take for example, the T.B. Devil Rays, here is a team that, if you were to add up the total player salaries for the year, it would add up to less than one single A. Rod annual salary. My point is, just hang tough out there . . . anything can happen!!

Oh and . . Go Rays !!!!! :dunno:

Just remember priorities ...

Pussy comes first. If the cheerleader of the other team is hot, doesn't matter who she roots for. ;)

Thank you!! thats what I am so frustrated about, if I were an NFL fan and I actually cared about the Detroit Lions I would stop spending my money on them, and these brainwashed fans don't have the sense too stop paying too watch a :bs: product!! I am fully aware of fords mindset, I can't understand why the 80 thousand morons still pay to watch this PATHETIC team every sunday, week after week, year after year etc..etc..

I used this same analogy earlier, the fans are like a herd of sheep, they show up every sunday come hell or highwater!! I know fords tactics and fully understand if ford isn't losing $$$ he isn't gonna change a DAMN THING!

Thats my whole point.. and I was trying to ask everyone who posted in this thread why would I be a fan of team that is destined and expected to lose every sunday, year after year??:eek::confused::hatsoff:

I cant select becuz i was 1st a Steeler fan since Stewart and Bettis and still is with Big Ben and Ward BUT I was a Colts fan when James was in the backfield.

Being from Pittsburgh, I remember when we almost made it to the World Series in 1990-1992. I really haven't followed baseball much. I'm a football fan first and hockey fan second. I like the Yankees but I would like to see the Pirates do something, other than lose year after year.

I am so glad the poll is a landslide win for never giving up on your favorite team!

True fans never change allegiance!
