I would never switch teams. I'm an NHL hockey fan and my team has always been the Los Angeles Kings. The team is cursed. The Ducks already have a Stanley Cup and any Kings fan literally hates teh Dam Ducks! I saw a lot of ship jumpers when the Ducks opened up their first season. Made me wanna puke. A true fan will stick with their team through it all. No exceptions.

what the fuck you lookin at?
This city will be burnt to the ground and I will be nothing more than a dead body underneath all of the rubble when the Cubs win the World Series.

I'm glad to see you still have hope. You said when, not if. :1orglaugh yea, I'm going no where near chicago when they finally go to the world series...just in case they win. It'll bring on an early apocalypse in chicage!

when your team is at the bottom of the league every year, year after year after year, how does it make you feel?

I am not giving up on my team i have never given up on a team before but i surely do not enjoy watching them getting embarassed every year.

With me it's being a fan of a team that has the players but just doesn't get it done. Sure I get sad but I always say "there's always next year." Example: New York Mets 2007 collapse, it ended on my 26th birthday. Could you think you think of a worse birthday present? I will remember that for the rest of life. Of course I looked forward to this year and they didn't get it done and now I'll look forward to next year and the year after that and so on and so on. I know that one day in the future the New York Mets will be World Series Champions again.

Never ...

I grew up watching the Cubs on WGN, Harry Carry, et al.
I even enjoyed his grandson when he used to call basketball games before following him.

I have always supported my Alma Mater, no matter how bad they suck.
I always will.

Real fans don't play fair weather.
Hell, I'm so sick of the Florida fans, with many even distancing themselves now (how fucking weak!).

No limit.

I think I probably dislike the fans that switch teams more than I even do the fans of the teams I hate. :1orglaugh

Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
Yeah well check this out!! I was born and raised a Detroit,Mi resident, I am a SERIOUS AND PASSIONATE SPORTS fan and I love all my HOMETOWN sports teams except the DETROIT LIONS, and I certainly don't wanna hear anything from anybody about not being a true fan of my teams or anything even close to that insinuation, cuz you'd be dead wrong..

the detroit lions without a doubt are the laughing stock of the NFL and have been for decades!! for that matter the detroit lions are the EPITOME OF A LOSING sports franchise, they have not won a frickin playoff game since 1955!!

Anybody who feels like or tries to say it doesn't matter and I should never abandon my home team can go fly a kite or sit and spin for all I care!

How would you respond, feel, or act if the mangement of the team you've lost all respect for and have abandoned (the detroit lions) had no commitment too winning??

Year after year, decade after decade they still put a mediocre @ best team on the field and they go through the motions and get KILLED every sunday!!

Meanwhile I have watched every single one of my favorite hometown teams win a championship except the detroit lions..

Redwings 4 championships in the last 11 years

Pistons 3 championships in the past 20 years

tigers in 84, and they're atleast making an effort to win

NCAA Michigan Wolverines have won CHAMPIONSHIPS in FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, AND HOCKEY, baseball etc..etc..

Even the detroit shock have won 3 WNBA championships, I am not a fan of the WNBA but I root for all of my home teams!! (maybe, when and if they lower the WNBA regulation rim too 8ft. so the women could slamdunk I might watch and become a fan of the WNBA, but until then its not exciting enough to watch IMO!!)

the michigan panthers of the USFL won a or a couple of championships that I know of..

we've had arena football championships, soccer championships, must I go on proving my point!!

the detroit lions SUCK from the owner to the players!! I wish they would just move to another city so MICHIGAN could get A new NFL franchise team..

I think the only reasonable excuse for abandoning a team would be if they move, or maybe if you move. I have no intentions of abandoning the Mets, Jets and Devils since I moved to Wisconsin, but I could see how some people might support their new local teams upon a move. The Brewers were my second favorite MLB team even before I moved, and maybe they will overtake the Mets in like 10 years or so, but it won't be because just because they are good or had success, just because they are my new hometown team.

The one common in all of these years of suckage is the ford's. That has to say something about them right? I would not be surprised if the lions blew a donkey's asshole until they gave up the team. Its hard buddy, but i grew up around the Lions and i love them to death. It's the same kind of feeling you would have if a loved one was a complete loser (no job, lived at home w/mom, etc.) you still love them but then you kind of dont because they suck. If the ford's are the problem i am not feeling good about that because once senior goes junior will step in and who knows what his kids are going to do with the team. Even though it hurts so bad every year to see them be so damn terrible i am going to stick with them in case, for some f'ed up reason they win a super bowl! That will be one of the greatest days of my life...i will probably cry.:crying:

If the fords sold the team too somebody who would make a commitment to winning then I might become a fan of the D.LIONS! or if the fords get there act together and actually make some real front office moves like hire a Football man!! someone who knows how to run and operate the team through the draft, make wise desicions and turn this franchise around I would give them chance!!

but like I said they sucked before I was even born!! they haven't won a playoff game since 1955!! why should I expect anything too change when its the same ole shit year after year??

Actually my dream came true in 1997 when the REDWINGS WON LORD STANLEYS CUP!! so I will die happy, that made me emotional...

the lions well, lets see them win a frickin playoff game and then maybe I would support them.. I mean how much shit can a owner expect the fans to swallow or wade through, hell I would have started boycotting that team years ago..

but just like a herd of sheep!! the herd shows up every sunday, come hell or high water too watch pure garbage get destroyed every sunday!!

but I refuse.. no commitment too winning = no respect for them, no wasting my money on that team, or even my frickin time even watching them on television!! thats sad!! I won't watch them on t.v. thats is called fed up and ashamed of a team.. I was given FREE LIONS apparrel, a jersy, t-shirts, ball cap, skull cap, and I refuse to wear it! I am gonna donate it too the needy!! :2 cents::hatsoff:

The Lions have not won a CHAMPIONSHIP since 1955. They won a playoff game in 1991 against the Dallas Cowboys and made it to the NFC championship...then they went on to get smoked by the washington redskins, the game was close at half and then the lions forgot they played two halves.

That is their one playoff victory since the AFL/NFL merger.:o

Just like all those Toronto Maple Laffs fans. They have been through the Ballard years and some good years and now it looks like they have to endure more hardships. Still, the team sells out every year and I don't know why.

I have changed 4 soccer teams in Turkland since 1998.

In Turkland:
1998-2000: Galatasaray
2000-2000: No team
2000-2001: Besiktas
2001-2002: No team again
2002-2007: Fenerbahce
2007-2008: Kartalspor (my hometown team, they promoted to 2nd division)
2008-Present: No team may be Fenerbahce again.

In Europe:
1997-Present: El Classico with Real Madrid tendency

In America:
1996-Present: Palmeiras

See! I'm not a fan type but a supporter type in Turkish soccer. :)

I've been a fan of Chicago Cubs for 8 years and a fan of Toronto Maple Leafs for 2 years.

I like fandom but i cannot a be fan of Turkish soccer teams at all because they always suck. :)

That's not being a real fan then.

I would never give up on my teams, I just think I follow them a little bit closer when they have a chance then if they have 3 or 4 or 5 loosing years.

I still watch the US football (soccer) team, so you tell me?

I have only stopped once, when the Portland Trail Blazers went through the Jail Blazers phase. I couldn't support a team full of morons and management that kept signing and trading for them. Now that they're through that, they're one of my favorite teams again!
