I'm more into "Soul" Metal like. Kings X, Living Color, Big Wreck, Thornley. Rock thats got those intense, gigantic sounding guitars like Metal...but less frantic rhythms that you can shake your ass to, its gotta swing y'know?
The only really METAL band I like enough to mention is probably At The Gates.
I recently got into them and certainly feel that its just about as good as Metal gets. Oh yeah and System Of A Down of course.
Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Damn Yankees, Kizz, Korn, Metallica, Motley Crue, Nirvana, Poison, Twisted Sister, Warrant, White Snake and a few others. Btw, in no particular order.
Not that into the genre anymore. It was all I listened to when I was younger though. What's being called metal anymore is so watered down it is depressing to listen to it and know that there are people out there thinking it's good metal.
I realized I was old and "behind the times" in my love for metal in the early '90s. I'm trying to stay "in tune" with what the kids are listening to these days, just so I don't become an old fart.
But every now and then, I hear a NEW METAL BAND (which the radio stations don't play, obviously, so I have to get it from somewhere else) that has the old flavor, but a bit of the newer spice. There's nothing wrong with tasting the old stuff done new (and I'm not talking remakes, but originals), but I don't like to live in the past.
