New, Original Metal

I like to listen to a lotta kinds of music, but being a child of the 80's i am really into metal. Glad to see a few W.A.S.P. and Motorhead fans are still around ... Good to know the Metal is still alive.........
I am a child of the '80s too, but I think I've OD'd on "Old Metal" enough for a lifetime. I love the "Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow" flashback segments on TV and radio, but I don't listen to "old works" much anymore than those short segments.
Maybe it's my bias against "Big Media" (the only "Big" prefix that I think is appropriate -- because the media controls most everything, long political discussion), but I don't like being fed (or re-fed) what was released because of demographics. I like to go out, find what I like and listen to it -- and that means hitting countless independent artists out there -- that are releasing Metal (among other things) NEW. Sometimes it's real refreshing on how GOOD an "older style" that "Big Media" left long ago can be.
Game titles are good sources of new metal -- like
Seventh who did the soundtracks for
Operation Flashpoint released (in the US) in 2001. Heck, I was NEVER a fan of much of the '70s, but the soundtrack in the late '90s title
Interstate '76 was a nice set of ORIGINAL, but retro '70s style music that made me re-appreciate what I missed.
I guess what I'm saying is that I like NEW, ORIGINAL works. I'll listen to the OLDER stuff maybe an hour or two a week. But I really like getting NEW STUFF, and there's a LOT out there if you look outside of the traditional "Big Media" generated stuff.
