What's good, what's not?

Ok, I got this idea from another thread, some posts about how products have gone done hill while prices constantly go up. So in an effort to help one another I thought it would be a good idea to list any product here that you love and want to recomend to others or the things you find that are cheap, break easily, don't work as advertised, etc...

I recently purchased a Phillips Universal Remote that quit working w/in two weeks and it really was not set up well to begin w/anyhow. It allowed multi-function between sat/cable, tv, and dvd/vcr. So because we don't have cable or satelite but we do have a vcr and a dvd hooked up to the tv we were still stuck needing to use the vcr remote. What good is a universal remote if it's not universal?

I actually prefer the stack of remotes for everything. Easier for me to use when they all separate. Those "universal" remotes are to damn complicated!

There is a really expensive alternative. For a couple hundred you can buy a touchpad remote that usually comes with all the *codes* to different TV's. Start calibrating it, and when the channel finally turns.. you have the right frequency.

I personally prefer that my tv cost more than my remote lol.

hmm. i only use universals. i always seemed to lose one of them. now i dont have that problem. and they are easier than you think.

I don't like the universal remotes. I just use the television one for about 95% of the time anyhow, and the others I just bust out when I occasionally need them.
