A hint from me, the Bavarian guy:
If you are going to visit the Oktoberfest in Munich and want to taste good beer, don't drink too much beer there.
1st of all, it's way too expensive, and
2nd you get much better Bavarian beer for lower prices in the Bavarian pubs when Oktoberfest time is over.
I recommend to try wheat beer if you don't know it. It's called "Weissbier", "Weisse", "Weizen" or "Weizenbier" in Germany. My fav wheat beers are "Franziskaner", "Schneider Weisse" (which I'm drinking right now
) and "Maltheser Weisse". The famous "Erdinger" has very much carbonic acid and is too sparkling for me.
As most of you certainly know, we Bavarians drink our beer in the beer gardens in liters. A liter of beer is called "a Mass". Try that, it tastes even better when you are sitting under a green tree! If you can get a "Weizen-Mass", then cheers!
