What Liberals Did

I don't know how many but the why of it is because there's a significant enough number of people that speak those languages to warrant it.

7 is the answer. And if you think that 2.6%, 2.0% and 1.3% of the total population of CA are "significant enough number of people that speak those languages to warrant it" then I guess you're right. The most financially irresponsible state in the Union should then, of course, provide written and oral assistance to those who speak Chinese, Tagalog & Vietnamese respectively.

Spanish I can certainly understand, while I may not agree, I understand. 25.8% of the population of CA speaks Spanish in the home, and while probably 90+% of that same 25.8% are perfectly capable of reading, writing and, in general, understanding the English language, I get it. But to say that there are "significant number of people that speak" and comprehend only Chinese (2.6%), Tagalog (2.0%), Vietnamese (1.3%), Japanese (>1/%) or Korean (>1%), are significant enough to where they warrant state-sponsored, written and oral assistance to cast a ballot, you're just wrong. And if your definition of a "significant number" is less than 3%, I would love to know what your definition of an insignificant number would be.

Why don't you take it up with your state legislature, PR. I didn't write the law.

Doesn't matter if it is physically in the Constitution or not. The general interpretation of the Supreme Court has always been that the first amendment calls for the seperation of church and state, and therefore that is how the U.S. government operates.

Ya think so, huh?

The National Prayer Breakfast is a yearly event held in Washington, D.C., on the first Thursday of February each year. The founder of this event was Abraham Vereide.[1] The event—which is actually a series of meetings, luncheons, and dinners—has taken place since 1953 and has been held at least since the 1980s at the Washington Hilton on Connecticut Avenue N.W.

The breakfast, held in the Hilton's International Ballroom, is attended by some 3,500 guests, including international invitees from over 100 countries. The National Prayer Breakfast is hosted by members of the United States Congress and is organized on their behalf by The Fellowship Foundation, a conservative Christian organization more widely known as "The Family". Initially called the Presidential Prayer Breakfast, the name was changed in 1970 to the National Prayer Breakfast. It is designed to be a forum for political, social, and business leaders of the world to assemble together and build relationships which might not otherwise be possible. ("[T]he breakfast is regarded by the Family as merely a tool in a larger purpose: to recruit the powerful attendees into smaller, more frequent prayer meetings, where they can 'meet Jesus man to man.'"[2]) Since the inception of the National Prayer Breakfast, several U.S. states and cities and other countries have established their own annual prayer breakfast events.

Every U.S. president since Dwight D. Eisenhower has participated in the annual event, including President Obama in 2009,[3] 2010,[4] 2011,[5] and 2012

You didn't even read that, did you? There is a huge difference between members of government attending a non-governmental religious ceremony and members of government attenting a government-run ceremony. The National Prayer Breakfast is only affiliated to the government due to the fact that it is attended by government officials; it has absolutely nothing to do with government at all outside of that. The seperation of church and state does not extend to the private lives of citizens because citizens aren't states. If Obama wants to attend this, he can, just the same as any American can attend church on Sundays. The fact that you even bring this up as an example is competely stupid, because even if the first amendment did not explicitly mean the seperation of church and state, the NPR would be in violation of it anyway since it would be an event promoting Christianity. If you're going to try and debate someone, it makes sense to actually know something about what you are supposed to be debating.

And while we are quoting the internet, here: "In the words of Thomas Jefferson, the clause against establishment of religion by law was intended to erect a wall of separation between church and state."

Hugo Black > Monty845

Every time you and the other liberal weenies in here are proved wrong by your asinine statements, you revert to the ridiculous "twisting of the meaning of a word or phrase". Even when you are shown records, documents, PROOF that it was never said in the Constitution, you still argue that it is. You're all a bunch of hypocritical douche bag, liars and cry babies. Just like your messiah - Clinton. "I did NOT have sexual relations with that girl." (while wagging his finger at the American people.)

I mean gosh... it all comes down to; "It depends on what the meaning of "is" is. Right?

And... all across America on election day, a lot of churches are used as Polling Places. "Hmm... let's go vote for our political candidates at a church. But just remember kids.. we have separation of church and state. By the way, the congressmen are meeting for a PRAYER BREAKFAST, hoping to bring people more closer to Jesus."

I despise liberals. I despise the way they want to turn everything into a "touchy feely, let's all sit around and sing Kumbay-ya and make the world a better place." Get it through your mushy heads... the world will NEVER be a place where everyone holds hands and tip-toes through the tulips singing peace songs.

What a bunch of horse-shit!

The majority of liberals are in favor of abortion, but are against the death penalty.

Did ya hear about the man in Florida who recently abducted a 7 year old girl? He took her home and raped her, sodomized her, rammed objects into her vagina, and the strangled her to death and threw her in a dumpster. She was later found in the landfill.

So there ya go ya fucking liberals... it's monsters just like that who you light candles for on the night of their execution.... but never mind the poor little girl who was frightened beyond belief as some asshole tortured, raped and killed her. Yeah, go ahead and continue crying for the fuckers who are going to die by lethal injection. Never mind the little girl who is nothing more than an after-thought.

Like I said... you liberals sicken me. You're all a bunch of slack-jawed wimps who depend on the government to take care of you. Some of you in here who are much younger than I am, will be living when the this country resembles what Germany and The Soviet Union used to be like. Only those in the government will be well off. The rest of you will be living in squaller.

When that time comes... hearken back to this day in FreeOnes when Sam Fisher told you so. Then, maybe then you will "get it".

What the fuck is wrong with you, Sam? Seriously, why do you come here to engage people that you hate? You don't even know anyone here but think you have all of us figured out with your weak liberal calculus.

I got news for you, Chum. This thread and many others are filled with hate. Take a looksee at how Stan responds about me.. regardless what the topic is. Same with Dirk, and any other member in here who doesn't like me or my views.

You see, you are the one who wears blinders. You don't see the whole picture. You see only what you want. Hell, how many times have you come into a thread and spouted off with your analogies, ideals, beliefs, etcetera? Plenty!

You see, Discussion Forums are just that... DISCUSSIONS. Whether people agree or dissagree on a topic is what fuels DISCUSSIONS. Would you prefer EVERYONE in here agree with EVERYTHING that is said? How fucking lame would that be.

Besides, you have a choice.. you can read my threads and or my replies or, you can choose to NOT read them. This isn't rocket science, xfire. It's what people do - Debate, argue their case, etc.

You're barking up the wrong tree if you think I am going to think like you do, or how Stan thinks, Jagger, etc.

Besides, I thought LIBERALS were the ones who bragged about respecting EVERYONE'S ideas, beliefs, and choices in life. Yet all you and some of the others in here are constantly trying to stifle my thoughts and beliefs.

Oh, I see. You're so thin-skinned that when anyone reacts to your vitriol in kind it actually hurts your feelings. I've tried to engage you in discussion and debate on several occasions but you inevitably end up ignoring me or running away. What do you think the point of debate is, Sam? And let's think a moment, shall we, about what it means to be Liberal. Riddle me this, Sam, what's the difference between liberal philosophy and Christianity? Fundamentally they're really very similar. Think about the prayer meetings you mentioned earlier. What goes on there if not hand-holding and Kumbaya singing?

I've been meaning to start a thread, but unlike you I don't start threads every time my nuts tingle, but I think it's a pretty good topic to have a discussion about and it is thus, "What is the one issue that really puts you in one political camp or another?". I would really like to know because underneath the facade of the "conservative" republicans there really isn't much substance. I'm guessing for many it's some stupid peripheral issue like abortion or gun control that, if you really did some research on, You Might find that your views aren't really as well thought-out as you may think and the views that you oppose aren't nearly as bad as you think they are.

Let me just say this, and it's really just an echo of a sentiment I've expressed before, why don't you make an effort to get along with your political opponents? I don't dislike you Sam, and I think you have positive contributions to make to the forum, but you can't just go around spewing how much you hate this or that because invariably you're going to touch on something that offends someone else and when you do, well, you can pretty much bank on the idea that you're going to get your rhetoric thrown right back at you. That's really all that's happened here, but, I'll take the first step and say hey, Sam, if I've said anything that's hurt your feelings or made you angry, truly, I'm sorry. Let's all just try to get along and simmer down the tone on the forum. What do you say?

Is this you Will E Worm?

To be fair, Will doesn't take himself so seriously. Will can actually be a lot of fun at times. Will is young and he gets a little wound up at times. But he can be quite funny (once you see how to take him). This character has some sort of "God complex" or something: "Listen to me, children. I am old and that means I know what I'm talking about (even if I make it up as I go). In 20 years, when you are my age, you will think back to your days on FreeOnes and realize that I was right. I was only seeking to lead you to the Promised Land. Now listen to me or I will send a plague of locusts and destroy your crops!!!"

Not only would I take Will E Worm over this goof any day of the week (and twice on Saturday), hell, I'd gladly like to have Baconsalt or Philbert back over this daily spamming and attention whoring. And I still can't understand how we lost GregC, but this character changes identities every month or two and is still here???!!!!

I'd respond with "That's cool. And thanks, man. I'm willing to wipe the slate clean."

Conspiracy...
They ended segregation, fine, but why do they shove multiculturalism, multilingualism and ethnic studies down the throats of today's largely fatherless young and impressionable populous? :1orglaugh
And why is there a need for all of these individual advocacy groups for seemingly each and every race?
And why are the libs uncomfortable with the english language being to standard language of the land?
And how many different languages is the California ballot printed in and why?
And why does affirmative action employ race as the sole criteria for who does and who doesn't get a government job?

Gets it! :hatsoff: Must be over .... say... 35 years of age? :1orglaugh

 Liberals did nothing but push an anti-American agenda.

Oh noes, it appears I finally got under Sam's skin. Well, back an animal into a corner and it'll always lash out... Though I'm sure I don't have to tell you that nowhere in your butthurt rant did you actually come up with a counterargument to mine. You ran out of anything smart to say and so you decided to smash your head on the keyboard until something readable came out, didn't you?

It is clear, Sam, that despite your constant talk of American politics you have no clue about how the system actually works. Have you ever read the Constitution? It is a very short and vague document, and it was made that way for a reason. I think it's cute if you want to try and be an originalist about the entire thing, but since you don't know what the founding fathers meant when they wrote the first amendment, outside of Jefferson's interpretation of it, you have no basis to tell anyone what it means. It's up to the Supreme Court to have the final word on what it says, not you, and the majority of the time they have taken it as an amendment providing the seperation of church and state. Argue all you want, but it's the Supreme Court's job to tell you what the Constitution means legally, and they do it quite well.

And let's make one thing clear here, Sam. Yeah, I am a Liberal. I am not a slack-jawed wimp who depends on government. I believe in the death penalty and wish Canada had it, I am against affirmative action and I know the world is never going to be a utopia. I am a liberal because it is through liberalism that we now have universal suffrage and human rights. I am so sick and tired of the right preaching fear and hatred and promoting partisanship and it is because of people like you that it happens. You have your head so far up your ass that you have absolutely no clue what goes on in the world outside of what Fox News tells you, do you? Quite frankly, I wouldn't hate you so much if your views weren't so stereotypically conservative, but no. Each day you come on this site you post completely stupid nonsense about how you and the people who agree with you are the only ones who are intelligent enough to make decisions in this world and it's just fucking tiring. You are the reason people in the world thing Americans are a bunch of idiots, and I really do feel sorry for you if you live your life in this sad little bubble of fear and hatred that cloud over all of your posts. If you had the ability to come onto FreeOnes and engage in political discussion without treating those with different views like they shouldn't even be allowed to speak them, I would have no problem with you. I would leave you alone. But instead you come on here and state your views to openly get a rise out of those who don't agree with you and that just pisses me off.

As for your cute little tale about the guy who killed the little girl, I think I can best sum up my thoughts in three words: cool. story. bro. Where did you hear people were holding virgils for the murderer? Actually, don't answer that, because I have to work tonight and I don't want to spend the entire night laughing at you and your "friends" as you suck each other's dicks online. To throw a wrench into your statement, though, guess what: I don't care that a little girl got murdered. It means nothing to me, it doesn't surprise me at all and as far as I am concerned the dude got what he deserved. Is that a liberal statement to you? No? Of course not, because people like you only see what you want to see and your view of liberals expired forty years ago.

I want to find debating you entertaining, Sam, but you don't know what you are talking about and you never have. At least Philbert had some idea of the shit he was spewing when we used to do battle. You're just sad.

I'd respond with "That's cool. And thanks, man. I'm willing to wipe the slate clean."

Since you didn't address anything else in my post I'll take it that you concede everything it contained. You're going to have to make some effort at amends or else I don't see how you could possibly be sincere.

Whoa! Hold on there.... If you expect me to get down and kiss your toes, forget it. I said it was cool, and I thanked you. I basically even said "I'm willing to start over with a clean slate." But, I don't give hoot about your politics or your social life. And if you want me to debate politics with you, it aint gonna happen.

You think I'm wrong, and I think you're wrong. Let's leave it at that. It's VERY obvious we will never see eye to eye on politics. If you wanna talk sports or cars or guns, anything... I will. But politics. No way.

If you don't want to debate then I suggest you refrain from posting inflammatory articles from slanted sources. Merely starting a thread is an invitation to debate and if you're not up to it then you shouldn't start such threads. Funny thing about arguing from fact as opposed to arguing from emotion, two people with opposite views can't both be right. You're entitled to whatever opinion you wish to hold, but don't try to play it off that we're merely disagreeing. That's incorrect. When you look at the facts and come up short, as is the case with most of your posts, you either alter your view or maintain a wrong perspective. That's just science.
